I love this channel makes me feel like a average hunter, not saying your a bad hunter you hit way more shots than I do and get way more opportunities. 3 ducks killed overall in a 13min entertaining video. This is how it is, not limits every day within an hour of the hunt. I go a week without killing a duck and I only hunt public. What really matters is the passion for hunting and thank you for displaying that.

20 gauge is the way to go i use my benelli m2 20 for 80% of my bird hunt grouse ducks and geese the only time i get the 12 out is when im going after nothing but geese and i might need the added range thats about it but if i can get them coming in over decoys and shots are under 35-40 yards ill mainly use the 20
@billywill9033 жыл бұрын
Try it. It will make you a better hunter. You won’t be so quick to shoot birds that are out of range. Plus it’s a lighter gun so follow through can be much better. Also when you’re trudging through a field or marsh the lighter gun is way easier. Couple pounds adds up fast.

Shoot them in the decoys and you don’t need a 12 gauge 3.5” That’s how you are supposed to shoot birds, not tree top high at 60 yards.

Sometimes I shoot my vintage 1931 Remington Model 17 twenty gauge when timber hunting mallards here in west TN. It has a 30 inch barrel with a fixed full choke. I shoot Federal 2-3/4 inch - 1 ounce number 5 or 4 shot - 1,450 feet per second. I have no problem folding mallards with it at 25-30 yards.

I've noticed a ton of birds where they usually are not. And not many where they usually are. Think it has something to do with the ban in Canada and the strange hot days cold nights without alot of fog this season. Will probably pick up after the split when we get more fog.

Could you weld, or have somone weld an extended rod parallel to the water to the arm of the mud motor to keep the strap up higher in line above the prop? Could be a tad safer and not too hard if the tube around the propeller’s crank shaft was steel. If not steel, maybe there’s a clamping option someone could come up with?

Ya see there is a lot a talk over 20 and 12 gauge. In my opinion, I have no idea. I’ve only killed one goose and one duck, I’m just getting into waterfowl, both with a 12 gauge. The goose with BB and the duck with BBB because I wasn’t paying attention to what I was putting in the gun when I was frantically reloading 😂 Any how I only have access to a youth model Remington 870 pump 20 gauge. I took it this weekend and didn’t really get the best chance but I still felt like it would be fine, then watching videos like this really makes me feel Ike I do actually have a pretty good shot at this😂 Love the vids keep them coming!

You should find an old sport 42 Remington 20 gage. I garrentee you won't be disappointed. I started out hunting 20 gage for ducks and pheasants but have had a few experiences with watching the shot stream go center mass and kill a bird without penatrating the body. Thought it might be a little in humane to dim mak birds so I switched to a 1100 12 and now I have watched the shot stream go completely through birds.

Great channel. Been watching nonstop for the past week! Second season hunter so absorbing as much as possible before the season in Southern Maryland Chesapeake Bay Area. Curious what the wrap is around your Hero8 on the second hunt in the vid? Also, maybe you already got a solution for extending the battery on the GoPro but I rubber-band a handwarmer to the back to make the battery last longer.

Does your sled have a sew on cover?? Or is it one you wrap over top. Where did you get it?
@andrewwesthoff74164 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken he got the sled from Roger's Sporting Goods, and it came with the cover. I think the bottom of the cover is continuously attached to the sled top, and then the top of the cover has a drawstring to cinch it closed.

When I was a junior I shot a 20 and my best friend started with a .410. That never stopped our dads from taking us waterfowl hunting. If you let the birds work and are taking ethical shots you’ll kill honkers no problem. Anyone saying otherwise must only pass shoot and sky bust. I have a 28 guage and have thought about taking it into the marsh 25 yards and closer with their feet down I’d absolutely be killing some honkers and mallards.
