I Hurt My Wrist! Using a BenchMate Instead of a Bench Pin

I've recently managed to injure my wrist to the point that I cannot grip anything or put any pressure on it...that puts a damper on holiday jewelry-prep! This is how I'm working through the pain. It would be a great option for those of you with carpal tunnel syndrome (which I'm sure is a contributor to my issues) or other hand problems that limit the use of your non-dominant, or non-sawing hand. My wrists both got sore too from silversmithing. I went an got checked out by a specialist for carpal tunnel and apparently I have it severely in both wrists. I was given a naproxen anti-inflammatory to use for 2 weeks to get the inflammation down and I was told to wear a brace like u have on at night time. My wrists are both much better!! I do get the odd tingling and numbness and difficulty gripping when sawing or filing/sanding and that's when I know it's time to switch up and do something else. Hope yours feel better soon because I know the feeling and it totally sucks having to work through the pain :(

I'm glad you found something to help! I should probably visit a specialist, but I already know that, most likely, they'd just tell me to do exactly what you said. I'm sure mine is caused by 10 years of playing piano, and more years than that of making jewelry. We are good at managing the pain so that we can keep doing what we love, aren't we?
