I have found that standing around the middle of the second panel of fence (3.5 meters) is a comfortable starting point when my partner is serving but I try not to go much closer to then net unless the ball is very short. Thanks for another helpful video Pablo and Hello Padel!

Right nw i am making that exact mistake ie. getting too close to the net and then when lobbed backtracking to do a slice/kick while off balance and trying to rush back to the net. Two reasons for this that i can think of, 1 is making the excuse that i can take away time by nt letting it get to the back glass however that hasn't worked so well because my opponents still seem to be returning everything and no.2 is i am nt fully confident on a patient setup to execute a clean vibora, basically i need to learn, execute and b fully confident in clean vibora. Brilliant video with Mauris advice and Pablo's demonstration of the wrong and rite way of maintaining the net.

Thank you so much for this series of videos, as a complete beginner who never took a lesson this is GOLD. Mauri top coach and Pablo top student!

Very good tips, thank you! It's so easy "getting sucked towards the net" when you really want to finish the point. I know I need to keep that in mind because it happens to me, exactly like in the video, sometimes; a good quick lob has me leaning backwards to reach it overhead and the volley are more blocks than good volleys. Very helpful ❤

Perfect timing, just yesterday I had a match where I got lobbed a lot and was only doing bad kicks and not bandeja, giving the opponents more attacking ball. Come to think of it, this was the problem, I was standing too close to the net thinking I would attack and finish the points more -_-. I good refresher to have these kind of videos. Thank you!

You do not talk about the difference between a tall and a smal player. Does the distance of the net depend also a bit on your own tallness?

Standing 4 mts away from the net, as suggested, is as absurd as standing 1 mts away from the net as you Pablo initially did. Both extreme positions (4 or 1) bring more troubles than benefits.
@HelloPadel Жыл бұрын
It’s true that 4 meters is a lot depending on the level. Thanks for your message 🙏
@iManiac7 Жыл бұрын
@@HelloPadel I would say he wanted to explain that you should be flexible and in many cases 1m is too close, especially if you are beginner. We copy pro players and they stay so close, because they can manage such distance!
@ImNotMaxArzt Жыл бұрын
Depends on your physical ability, naturally. But 4 meters is necessary if you're playing or aiming to play on a higher (read advanced amateur and above) level. With proper footwork, you'd still have the ability to cover chiquitas to both fences by closing the angle, not by moving sideways, and regular grundstrokes as well as non-perfect chiquitas are usually no more than one step (as necessary in normal volley technique anyway) away from a preferable height. When terrible chiquitas are played, you still have time to react, come forward and either drive-volley or attack with more weight behind a regular volley. When hard groundstrokes are played, you have more distance from the opponent, so that you have adequate time to prepare a small volley stroke rather than just a block. And finally, when any lob comes in to play, especially as a backhand player who has to cover his partners left shoulder, you're usually able to reach the ball with an impact either in front of your body or parallell to your body, rather than behind. The 4 meter volley position is basically non-negotiable, provided you have the ability to move sufficiently to play good padel anyhow.
