Those 11th gen F150s were awesome. Mine was an '06 with the 4.2L V6 single cab XL long bed. Threw sandbags in the back and didn't struggle in snow. Unfortunately I only had it for 1 year and 4 months as transmission went. Had 202k miles mostly city and carrying loads for the first 192k. Was my grandfather's company truck so it got put to work. I would own one again, even if it's a 4.6L and a 5 speed!

Don't worry about what people expect when they click your videos. You did what would make your dad proud and took care of your mom. :) also thank you for being as discriptive as you are in your videos. I am blind and able to follow along i appreciate it a lot being someone who loves fixing cars/trucks to.

I've done the same thing with a wood shim on the top of the coil pack, thats awesome to see someone else do the same to hold it down. best of luck with the truck.

Heck yeah! Turned out looking good. Looks pretty slick for an old work truck. Hopefully your mom will enjoy it. I looked up the cost of the replacement grill if that one cracks again, about 50 bucks. I hadn’t thought about painting the plastic, I’ve just used UV protection on mine since I bought it new in 2019. I know Cerakote makes a trim coating that lasts quite a while and you just wipe it on. I’ve been replacing things here and there on my Dads 07 Tundra, headlights, rubber window trim, wiper arms. He’s like your dad was, it’s a tool to him. Enjoyed the video.

re: the radio. my mothers 2001 Mustang GT has the upgraded stereo. It too would drain the battery after a few days. Apparently its a known issue. I ended up pulling the one fuse (there are 2) and soldered a piece of wire with fuse blades on each end and stuck one in a fuse that was only hot with the key on and the other end in the outgoing side of the radio fuse slot. It works but the downside is you have to reprogram the radio every time you start it but at least you have tunes.

👍👍👌👌 Good work there. I have a 2006 F-150, 4.6L with 258k miles. Looks almost exactly like your Dad's. Tip: if the security system starts randomly not allowing the engine to start, it is probably a bad ground of the security module. Sorry I can't help with the radio problem, mine is still working just fine. Keep up the good work, and thanks for the video.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my old man in April. I inherited his 1996 Lincoln Town Car. One thing about my dad was when minor things broke on that car he wouldn't fix it and mind you he was a mechanic at one point in his life. It's got almost 400k, has been wrecked, and has many problems, but the engine still purrs.

I just restored a 2011 Ford Escape. Spent about $5k on it and it should last another 10-15 years. The cost of a new used car was ridiculous and whatever I bought also would have needed work so I decided to keep and fix what I have. Everything has been replaced or rebuilt. New is not better.
