I have my great grandfathers TCR from 1934 and it’s still holding together. He started two churches using that Bible and preached countless sermons. They were built for a lifetime and then some!

I love that Thompson-Chain reference bible! This bible review reminds me that God's people have always loved his word and have made an effort to protect and guard the sacred writings. In Sunday School class we are studying a book called '7 Reasons to Trust the Bible' by Dr. Erwin Lutzer. Ever since scripture was first written God has designated his people to guard and protect the bible. Thank you for sharing this video.

Mind Blown !! Thas so amazing for a Bible to have endured that long with regular use. Lord Willing, I'm super excited to see how my Schuylers do over years of use, and hopefully be passed down to my kids. It's on it's way to getting marked up :p

I have a 1964 edition of the TCR. It is blue leather. The red letter in the New Testament is nice. The India paper is amazing and has very little show through. Even with the small print it is not difficult to read because of the generous spacing between words and sentences. Thank you for the review of your pastors Bible.

Peach brethren. I have two 4th Edition TCR and both of them was 59th printing dating back to 1976, so probably your Bible dates back to the 80s. If I recall, the date is printed in the maps or in the last pages.

Great review and so glad he marked it up. His notes and markings make it even more special. Enjoy!

Great old school Bible showing that the premium bindings really do hold up over time - I imagine this was well used 😁

Wow! That’s pretty cool, I inherited my pastor TCR Bible, it’s a Cowhide leather, and it’s been preached out of for 48 years (I think,) it was copyrighted in 1964. But it’s pretty cool to own, and it has held up AMAZINGLY! Only St. John (page 4) is completely fell out. And I’ve made it my own, he wrote my name and such in it, it’s pretty cool!

Have this same block but the genuine leather from my dad. It’s hasn’t held up quite as well. The block is separated from the cover. Last signature is loosened up. And some of the pages in Genesis are hanging on by a breath.

2:43 The title page shows this is 4th edition updated, not the 6th. I was given my TCR in the 1970s (new then), and it’s also an updated 4th edition, copyright 1964, but it’s a 58th printing. Yours is 66th printing, so should be later than mine.

I later learned it is an early 80s edition.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the excellent condition of that Bible after nearly 60 years. Amazing quality! I'd be curious to know what the purchase price of that TCR was back in 1964. Whatever the price, it was worth every penny!

I believe it was around $25 which is a large amount for the time.

This Bible is NOT 60 years old. I bought a blue deluxe leather one in 1976 and still have it. I compared the title pages. The one in this video was the 66th printing. Mine was the 58th. Everything else is the same.

That Bible is amazing Pastor Tim. What a treasure. I do like the ribbon colours you put into it - they look great. Do you think the Premier Collection Bibles can hold up like that? Also, do you know what that verse was for healing in the old and new covenants please?
@anickelsworthbiblereviews2 жыл бұрын
I’ll check when I get to my office. I do believe the Premier Collection will be able to hold up based on the ones I have. I don’t have a TCR yet, I’m holding out for the NKJV.

Thanks for this video, its exciting as I myself have a 1964 TCR by Kirkbride I bought at the advise of my pastor at that time, it’s king James red letter edition. Cover is still in good shape except at the base of the binding, as I had it standing on edge rather than laying flat some of the time. Has the same gold lettering on the binding. Inside the cover - on the lining - in gold is “Genuine Cowhide Bonded Leather Lined”, is this reference to the thin layer of lining inside the cover, or the exterior cover itself ? The cover has that pebbly texturing to it, where it is getting worn it shows through as a brown surface. Mine says 62nd printing. I just received a new Zondervan TCR as I wanted one in NKJV, I wanted to buy the premium but it only came in KJV and is really bigger than I wanted, so I stepped down one level to get it in NKJV, it is in red Calf Skin Leather, it is nice enough.

Really depends if you want all the old resources. But for me the new one has a better layout, and the better system. It is worth losing the outdated art and supplements.
