.621 max lift. Btr Stage 2 ls1 cams are .620/.605 i believe. Why would this have ptv issues?
@nathanvillarreal7937
@nathanvillarreal7937 Жыл бұрын
Because 862s have small chambers as is compared to stock 317s and the new cam has way more lift than btr cams so that would make PTV clearance questionable mainly on the intake valve

If you get the right setup with this camshaft in your truck it should go easy 6.90s on the motor hopefully this isn't to long and please do not take it the wrong way l have a 2011 Camaro SS it has a GM performance LS3 495 horsepower crate engine with milled and CNC ported LS3 heads it has a ZL1 fuel pump and injectors a sheet metal intake and 102mm throttle body it has a built 6L80e transmission with a Circle D 4200rpm lockup stall converter with stock 3.27 gears and a Eaton limited slip it's tuned and runs on E85 it has a load of upgrades lowering springs aluminium one piece driveshaft. race star wheels 305/45r17 MT drag radials rear 18 inch skinnies front but the camshaft duration is 219 intake 228 exhaust it's a pretty mild camshaft it shifts at a fairly low 6600rpm the car weighs 3920 with me in it has a full interior and AC cars best eighth mile was 7.22 at 96mph with 1.65 60 foot times my only problem with it is I'd like to loose 4-5 hundred pounds and if this setup was in your 3400 pound or less S-10 with a good suspension and traction it should go 6.90s easy the engine in my Camaro is not a super high horsepower engine but it has a very broad torque curve it makes really good torque from 2700-6200rpm l had a LS2 swapped carberated single plane intake with a Holley 850 HP carberator 1984 Monte Carlo SS with milled CNC ported LS3 heads built 700r4 with 3000rpm stall converter and a 1986 Buick GN 8.5 rear end with 4.10 gears with a camshaft very simular to the one you just removed with a load of upgrades from 2008-December 2021 bought the car new in 1984 had it over 37 years sold it and bought the 2011 Camaro SS the Monte Carlo SS weighed 3380 with me in it AC deleted it ran 7.50s at 92mph 1.71 60 foot time so even with 500+ pounds of the Camaro it's almost 3 tenths faster than the Monte Carlo was l think the right stall converter and gearing will be more critical and will have to be spot on to get any gains with this new camshaft it will be less forgiving than your previous setup if setup is not matching it does sound wicked it will be more high strung than the previous setup

@@tommys2979 it's possible it hooks well goes straight with much less drama than the Monte Carlo did has gone 1.65 60 feet the Monte Carlo was lowered with Moroso drag springs front and back so the front end lifted much more off the light than the Camaro does with a decent burnout the Camaro has no traction issues it hooks pretty hard it does have a larger rear tire 305/45r17s than the 275/60r15s on the Monte Carlo the Camaro is very stable over 120mph than the Monte Carlo was at the end of the quarter mile with the Monte Carlo when you take your foot off the gas and the front end drops gives you a bit of a uneasy feeling the Camaro does not the front end of the Monte Carlo really stretched the front springs on take off

@@tommys2979 it's lowered 1.4 inches it's not slammed leaving about a 1.5 inch gap between the tire and the top of the fender well instead of almost 3 inches l live in Florida it's not a drag car it's more of a nice weather weekend street car l do love the 6L80e automatic transmission with the super low 4.03 1st gear transmission ratio is how l get the 3 27 gears to work good with the Circle D 4200rpm lockup stall converter and AC makes driving on hot afternoons much more enjoyable as does the highway at 80mph at 2100rpm even with the 700r4 l had in the Monte Carlo with 4.10 gears at 80mph on the highway your turning 2800-2900rpm 1st and 2nd and 3rd gear in the Camaro are very close to the 4.10 gears in a 700r4 the Camaro does 123mph at 6600rpm in 3rd gear and with the super low transmission 1st gear ratio it's equivalent to a 4.30 1st gear in a 700r4 so with a fairly mild camshaft there's no need for 3.73-3.91-4.10 gears the throttle response is wicked at the slightest press of the gas petal it's really not a max effort setup its a very usable and can be driven anywhere including the highway for extended periods and do so effortlessly it is equipped with nitrous but timing needs to be backed down from 26 degrees to 19 degrees l have jets for 150-200-250 hit haven't used it yet only when dynoed it was used twice on a 150 hit but hasn't been used on the street or track yet on the motor to the rear tires it made 430 horsepower at 6200rpm and 410 foot pounds of torque at 5000rpm on the motor and 555 horsepower at 6200rpm and 535 foot pounds of torque at 5000rpm on a 150 hit

@@tommys2979 the 7.22 at 96mph eighth mile pass was made with only 6 passes were not talking about a car that has 30-50 passes and the engine was new with 800 or so miles on it I'm pretty sure with more passes and experimenting with tire pressures it made these times on 20psi rear tire pressure and launch techniques it could go a tenth or two better it now has 1400 miles on it I'd love to go 7.0s-high 6.90s on the motor before hitting it with a 150 hit but the 3920 weight with me in it makes it close to impossible without guting things like seats door panels and so on 5th gen Camaros are clearly 500+ pounds on the heavy side for a serious drag car and the only way to shed this kind of weight would be very expensive carbon fiber doors hood fenders and trunk lid or remove everything not needed on the interior or both bottom line the car is pretty heavy my car has lost 110 pounds with removing stock exhaust and big heavy stock mufflers converters and putting on light weight wheels and tires if not it would weigh 4030 pounds with me in it

I'm think this camshaft will not like a load or much resistance on it until 4000+rpm but your truck being fairly light will help under 3400 pounds with driver this camshaft is not for something that weighing over 4000 pounds

Definitely not a cam youd want in a fullsize truck. I had the same thoughts on the cam i chose for my 5.3 s10 but knowing the truck is like 3200ish lbs it wont need too much low end to get it moving so i opted for a cam that will wake up more in higher rpm and i plan on spinning it to 6500-7000rpm anyway. Doing it as budget friendly as possibly so thats why i didnt just spec a cam for it.
@gloriamaletta8667
@gloriamaletta8667 Жыл бұрын
Hope this large camshaft gets you the results your wanting l could be completely wrong but l think at least a 4000-4200rpm stall converter and a 4400-4800rpm would most likely even be better with this camshaft it will be down on torque from idle to 4000rpm compared to the cam you had but it will probably carry torque and horsepower above 5500-6000rpm better good luck with it

@@LsBluu another screw up..but that tells the world why it's so slow and getting nearly beat buy a stock neon..the best thing you could do is get a custom grind cam that is made to your engines full specs. You'll need to cc your heads if you know how for starters then you'll need to flow test the heads.and get rid of the turbo 400. You can't just swap a can and expect big results. If the truck needs a baby bottle then your doing a bunch wrong when I see stock 6.0 LS engines run low 10's in a s10 in the 1/4.
