Steven, I had the exact same thought. He should have said to rotate the crankshaft, my opinion. Thankfully by the time I got my driver's license that practice had reversed to the big meats we put out back would clear the fenders. I made a few good cheap rides ride like a log wagon which I wouldn't do now but man the only thing cooler than a pair of N 50's out back was if you could roast them and I won't go into the story's. I hate it that the smarty-pants investors caused the cool cars to go through the roof $$$ but then, I reckon that's why there's so many of them still stashed because there worth too much to end up at the junkyard and the crusher. I could tell about the time when an acquaintance of mine his dad stole a 392 hemi from me, I best stop because, not enough space and time here. Mass availability? How? Its only in HD trucks? Itll less available then current Hemi's.

Unfortunately you'll never see those on the cheap and plentiful like ls motors

the only thing I do not like about this show is how many people do you actually know that can afford all these parts.

You also changed valve seals.

This is exactly what I am using / doing with my LS swap, cammed LQ9 however, I am going fuel injection. I am curious as to what this motor would have done FI. Thanks.
@mikejohnson6993 жыл бұрын
Same overall power, except fuel injection might give you better fuel economy and throttle response

@@mikejohnson699 I'm not sure that's true, considering they didn't attempt to custom jet the carb. EFI would allow a perfect mixture under full throttle, and usually results in power gains at the expense of increased cost and complexity. A carb is almost always a compromise on power, drivability and fuel economy.
@davebarron59392 жыл бұрын
@@PlugInRides Yes, I can agree. This was neat simply because I am doing the very same "upgrades" on mine after a lot of do-diligence. Going in an 83 Camaro with 4L65E. Course, kinda on hold because it is 23 degrees outside, AND in my building. Thank God for global warming.

That's a big lift cam for an lq9. Was it remand with oem flat top pistons due to piston to valve clearance issues it is known for? If so I may re think my .570 lift max for my 05 sierra denali and go with a larger cam.
@Gen01Lee2 жыл бұрын
I think the cam they use is pretty maxed out. .600 or just over should work from my research if I remember correctly. Duration plays a factor also I believe.

In 2024 that long block from Oriellys is 10k after tax. That's not including the additional 3k+ in parts added. For that price I can easily buy a complete 650HP+ drop in.
