Its a great drone still, absolutely great enough for professional work or the novice homeowner needs or just hobbyist alike. The head of performance was met with the mini 2 offering the 4k and the 60fps in lower resolutions if desired, still a very safe, user friendly and capable quad for those needing to save a little money seeking to attain what they need instead of what they want. I know I've flown mine probably close to 1 thousand flights and never had a single malfunction, crash or situation. Imo even the wind capabilities are pretty much as good as anything else. Folks think size and weight has everything to do with something not connected to the ground and it's just not the case. Mainly it's a cognitive match usually in life that bigger, heavier etc is better, but something flying in open air its all about the power to weight ratio and nothing more really. Ive had very powerful Fimi x8se's and ive flown my mini2 in the same conditions as those and they aren't either one significantly better than the other, they move equally well and effectively for their size, weight and power imo. I bought my drone in February, just before that update that allegedly reduced the range / signal strength. Everything works fine, so I won’t ever upgrade this firmware unless DJI Fly stops working.

Hi everybody, be careful. Recent updates for older drones are mostly for some restrictions or control of users, such as the emission of Aeroscope signals or blocking of tools provided by Drone-Hack. For example, the latest firmware for Mavic Mini blocked disabling AeroScope signal emission. Sometimes they come with minor improvements to hide them. I do not install when the description includes "improves flight safety".

Frankly I've long since learnt to not entirely trust DJI when it comes to sudden updates after a new product hits the market. The not switching between 2.4 and 5.8 is somewhat strange, I'm sure the Mini 3 which is also Ocusync 2.0 won't have a problem or am I just being a bit paranoid? :)

But it does have a new feature, on my mini 2 I now have flicker control that wasn’t there before the update. They have also disabled shutter speed control and now you can adjust exposure value where you couldn’t before.

So the Mini 3 pro did switch between bands, but still lost signal in the same area as the Mini 2! so from that evidence the 5.8Ghz did very little or nothing?

Excellent evaluation, Gavin. Let us Not ever forget the faithful mini2!! It's an amazing drone and was the best value around but the mini3 at the new low price is giving it some competition. I have the Mini3 pro but still use my mini2 when I don't want to carry such a big bag with the larger batteries or need the collision avoidance capability. Merry Christmas!

Hi I purchased my mini 2 last week I did the update on setup and found the same issue with it disconnecting when trying to switch to 5.8. if I manually set it to 2.4 it's fine no disconnects. I did the hack and wanted to roll back the firmware but it looks like they've stopped it all I could do is re flash the 1.6. Weathers not been great last few days so not had chance to see if that's cured it

Updated fly app today 1/28/23 seeing how I'm on the latest firmware anyway, installed latest app version and bingo she came with a gimbal error just lickidy split just like that as soon as powered on. Incredibly upsetting.

about 6minutes into the vid,....I notice that when you were failing to "lock on" to target for a quickshot, )the RC indicator was "bad" and in the red but, when you were successful, the RC indicator was good. I bought a Mini 2 last September. It went very well and I enjoy flying it in different places not until this January 8. My GPS shows more than 18 sattelites and good signal. When I increase the altitude like 4 meters, the signal immediately drops to yellow and suddenly lost its signal. Same thing when I try to move away my drone from me for about 10m and suddenly initiate the RTH. I tried to flew my drone in different places but still same thing happened. My app and firmware is all up to date. This issue starts after the update. What should I do?

DJI had me update my MINI 2 drone to the latest firmware. IT KILLED MY DJI MINI 2! Was "working perfectly" before the update. After update, it will disconnect if the RC is just 1 metre or more away. It KILLS my MINI 2 5ghz transmitter receiver. STILL NOT RESOLVED YET.

RIP to my drone today Apr 17 2023, flew it while on a boat like I normally do, no issues. until i did a firmware update. afterwards it was constantly losing signal at 70-100m already and getting disconnected. Once it lost signal the RTH was somewhere in the water and the boat was already far away from the RTH. I had no control of anything no signal on the screen and the GPS wasnt working. it was heartbreaking. anyone else had this issue. let me know.

One thing that really annoys me abount the Mini 2 is that I can't record RAW files only. I don't want JPEGs, I only ever use RAW images, so why, as on my Mavic Air, can't they enable either JPEG or RAW and not JPEG or RAW and JPEG. It just uses up unnecessary space on the memory card!

They've been changed wrongly and they have even made huge mistakes and don't understand certain things they have wrote down thereselves so I guess because it's on there back for making humongous mistakes the vlos atm they can't do fuck all about it until adjusted roght because if 1 part is not correct then the rest could be incorrect because there is mistakes by the CAA thereselfs so until that's changed I guarantee there is a law stating if things are incorrect and cannot be confirmed in it's current state they it's not a acted on law plus drones are made for this what even is the hole point in vlos its bollox mate

Optimised flight safety .... Hmmmm .... yep RTH is "perfectly" not so good as it used to be. Truth be known I wouldn't be supprised if this were more to do with some sort of bureaucratic regulation as it is a DJI stuff up. Less accurate. For instance with my mini 3 pro there is no phone connection required with the rm330 but no hi res sat maps , can fly any distance without signing in. With my SE can't go more than 50 mtrs without signing in and requires a phone connection. Have hi res sat maps. In spite of the USA trying to ban DJI , DJI keep on slogging away at it. Must be a head %^&* for the engineers with a minefield of rules not always really about safety.. The Mini 2 is such a good bread and butter earner drone for DJI it would make sense to keep it going.
