the number of times I have filled my boots because of too deep water is numerous. BUT the early spring ice-out times are the times I most regret it. the heart-stopping, chilling, cold of the water as it rushes over your boot, numbs your toes and feet and sloshes around until you can get the boot off is only relieved slightly by getting the water out of the boot. wet socks and feet no matter what time of year is something I do not like when wearing boots! good on ya for going to boot-filling lengths to bring us videos.

Like how you caught the Beaver on video, slow motion at that! Yeah not the best of days but still like you said Nick the water maybe too cold. We're still getting that in California also. It's JUST now starting to warm up. Nice assorted species though! Enjoyed the video, nothing new there heh. If you ever try out Trout fishing wouldn't mind seeing that as well. Matters not we try to watch EVERY video you put out. Tight lines Nick. Ken & Lea

Great video Nick, everyone respects and enjoys your commitment to creating a great video for us, but at what cost. Those wet feet had to be miserable and to some degree dangerous, frost bite is nothing to mess with. I know this from experience, my hands will never be the same in the cold and when they do get cold it is painful. Take the measures necessary to stay dry and warm. Enough of that, I would like to see a 5 or 6 pound yellow base on the end of your line. See you later buddy!

Nick man, they make camera protectors that are similar to a phone case. I've been watching you for over a year now (not in a creepy way, the youtube way :) investing in one might be worth it. Always remember: Even a bad day of fishing is better any day of work. Rock on man.

At least you can wade across your streams. I live in the Columbia River gorge, in hood river.,the Columbia is a mile wide and very deep, while most of the local rivers and creeks are from snow melt year round. But the salmon, steelhead and sturgeon along with walleyes are awesome. When you are fishing for bounty fish they pay you to catch since they eat baby salmon. All of a sudden a sturgeon grabs your worm and its game on. Talk about big fish on little pole excitement. Love seeing your fishing environment and how you present it. Thanks

It is getting to be bass spawning season. And the water is probably to chilly yet for big fish to be active. At least you have open water. There is still ice on the river up here but not safe ice.. it's all that sketchy stuff that can be solid 3 ft one second and the next step is like the ice wasn't there.

I have never caught anything using yellow bass for bait. There is some snaggy structure where I could catch yellow bass all day long on a slow day. Occasionally I would gut hook one and use it for bait. Never ever had any luck. We don’t have many flathead. I imagine that would be the most likely.
