I can't even begin to describe how much I appreciate that the Realms in Exile team really respects the Middle Earth world builders that came before them. I find it kind of frustrating when new world builders will come in and completely ignore massive world building efforts like MERP. There are definitely some iffy bits of lore in MERP which can safely be ignored, but there's also some absolutely amazing stuff in there and that gets ignored and often replaced with something that is worse. It's a lot easier to make something good when you're building on the backs of those who came before. I also really appreciate how it feels like this timeless neverending collaboration effort to create Middle Earth, from Tolkien to MERP and now finally the Realms team.

3:14:00 barons are virtually unplayable and gameplayless, but they are counter powers for counts/dukes and backup councilors or rp-feudal ties. They are npc wanderer and armies anchors too btw. Pdox also seems to be moving towards more playable barons too so lets not just cast them out so fast

Realms in Exile is hands down the best immersive experience for Middle Earth, as well as PJs film adaptation. While not as grand scale militarily speaking as say DaC TW, but the mechanics available for depth in base CK3 is just so good for Tolkiens world. I will absolutely stick around into my 30’s for the bookmarks they’ve planned. Thanks for taking the time to do this for all the modding community

I've never done any programming, digital/3d art, or game design... but i kinda wanna make a mod for a high fantasy series from the 00s now.
@Soul_Tomato21 күн бұрын
What series? 👀
@Ellisepha21 күн бұрын
@Soul_Tomato The Age of the Five, by Trudi Canavan. Used to read that series at least once a year. Basically a fantasy series about two major organized religions growing in power and going to war, with lots of making alliances and divine interventions. HIGHLY reccomend those books, it has cool ideas about gods, mythology, religious indoctrination, etc. From a first quick assessment, the mod may struggle with the scale of the world - in the books, only two continents are ever shown and mentioned, and a lot of the geopolitical background about some of the countries is never mentioned. I think there's like 10 countries alltogether? But hey, we can't all be Tolkien ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Torag5520 күн бұрын
Godherja is made so it's quite possible. But I'd suggest you start small first. Start somewhere first and build from there. Kind of like how Tolkien started with his constructed languages first before imagining what the world would be like for these people that spoke said languages.
