Corrections thus far:
1. The part about MeMow being based on Killer Queen is probably wrong. I didn't get that from my source, it was just a rumor floating around online that tied into my point. It's possible, but the part 4 anime wasn't out yet so the kid would have had to have been reading the manga, which is less likely.
2. I contacted my source again to ask them to provide me with any corrections or clarifications they thought are worth pointing out and was told the following:
"You said Alex handed ducktales off to terrace, but really what is a bit more accurate is that he took over ducktales from already established showrunner Matt youngberg (who is also a pushover) so that he could place terrace as director there and then he fucked off to go work at fox, terrace only had to be a director there for six months so she could get handed her own show. and also Robertryan corey wasn't Alex's friend when he first hired him for gravity falls, he mainly hired him because he had seen some drawings of his of some zombies and wanted him on board for the scary-oke episode. Phil Rynda tried to warn him not to hire Corey, who already had a reputation of being completely unemployable, but he's such a kissass that Alex ended up keeping him on permanently."

They aren't always animators. C.H. Greenblatt (creator of Chowder and Harvey Beaks) also hired people he found online. They were background artists and storyboard artists. Rebecca sugar isn't a man hater. Steven is based off her brother Steven Sugar. Steven is voiced by a boy. In videos posted by cartoon network, where it shows Rebecca and her writers having a meeting, there is quite clearly a male writer. Why would Rebecca sugar have a boyfriend and marry if she is a man hater? Steven bomb stuff you said is actually stupidity. Why would a network spread out episodes to "boost ratings". That would actually cause more people to know LESS about the show. Maybe if they would spread it out over every other week , but six months. Stupid. Why would they "need to make a spot"? If I were hired to work on a show I wouldn't want it to be because I'm an ethnically Jewish Latina mix female. I would want it to be because I'm good at what I do. I just want to write my story about a cartographer wandering a science fantasy world. I don't want people to like it because I'm xyz, I want them to like it because I take inspiration from things like vampire hunter d and final fantasy. Rose (the cartographer) is only a girl because it's easier for me to draw girls, not because "muh diversity". She's not romantically inclined because she's got a very one track mind- make maps. All of this is interesting information and all, but I feel like it could have been handled a bit more maturely. All of the vulgar language and venom kind of kill the whole statement of "this is alleged" and make it seem heavily biased. Kind of like it's trying to rile people up and get them to see the biased opinion towards the situation as the true one. I'm not defending the animators who have done wrong, I know about some of the stuff they did-- I just feel the video was a bit annoying to watch because I want something informational, not something seeming like locker room talk.

EVERYTHING mentioned in this video is shit that I have said for years and one of the big reasons I tell people not to apply for CN jobs. I wasn't trying to discourage them but given the history and patterns that CN has with it's staff, I knew it would be a waste of time since they don't actually *HIRE* people but rather just recycle people they know from show to show. I called this shit out LAST YEAR when I saw the line up of the 2017-2018 line up, and it was just people who had worked on new shows. The only new show that CN has that sort of breaks this, even though they could be considered alum at this point given how many shows they've worked on, is Megaman which is headed by Man of Action (MoA). HOWEVER, of all the new shows THIS is possibly one of the best and is given the shit treatment of being only aired at 6 am on SUNDAYS while CN clogs up their airways with the usual shit we are known for them to do. I also knew about the Tumblr shit as well. I knew they were hiring Tumblr artist based on their FOLLOWINGS and POPULARITY, mostly connected to what they said that was flavor-of-the-day on the site, and NOT for their skill. I actually contacted someone who worked on a CN show about 3-4 years ago and gave them a link to what was at the time my art Tumblr which only had a few things on it. The 'suggestion' he gave me was that the lines were too thick and things were too detailed. That's all he said, no other pointers or suggestions. Now...'the lines were too thick and things were too detailed' Take that in.....look at everything that airs on CN right now. And yeah, it's only about the style THEY want, not about actual TALENT. But yeah, been there done that. Saw this shit coming on Tumblr all the way back in 2010. And like I said; I knew kids don't like Steven Universe. The show has nothing for them and is just 15 minuets of a boy crying along with this dumb-ass shit rocks. Compare this to a show like Ladybug, Avatar, or something as simple as Ben 10 (the original) Boy and girls flocked to these shows because they had action, story, cool looking characters, but most of all ACTION. Steven Universe looks ugly, avoids actions, tries to put off its one-lines as comedy and has absolutely NO STORY thanks in part to the crew not knowing how to construct anything given the only thing they care about is showing off how gay these fucking rocks are. The biggest defenders of SU are older teens and adults all the while kids either hate it or don't even know it exist. Sugar can hide behind the whole 'IT'S FOR KIDS' thing all she wants but she knows. She fucking knows. But Jesus. I still want to be a storyboard artist. I still want to be a story writer but....WHY? Why are they letting people like this in? They obviously don't care about animation as a means of art or telling a story, they just pile in a massive circle jerk of shit and with the exception of one or two shows, make ABSOLUTE SHIT. Just...god fucking damn it. And as a final note, the WiA hole is growing larger. My experience with them was shit but holy fuck I had no idea it was going that far. Auuuuuurgh, I don't know whether to be numb, angry but we need to do something. We need something to change the tide to get this shit together.

Stuff like Adventure Time is a Holy Grail from a money making perspective. More details and linework means more work in general. The dream cartoon is one of stick figures that rakes in Number One Tier cash. The execs will always go with a simple style because it is less work. CN could make Miyazaki level detailed cartoons but if they put that kind of work in only to have the thing fail they will be out far more money than if they throw the dice with something like Steven Universe where every character is basically a South Park-esque assortment of shapes cobbled together. I personally see no issue putting homosexual characters in a show if it feels natural and planned. The characters need to feel like characters first. But my biggest gripe is that some of these characters come off as token gay who can do no wrong. Your character should own their sexuality, not the other way around. I think the fact that some of these shows dont do that is far more worse and harmful then sneaking in a gay kiss

I agree, I think it's okay to have representation in a kid show I just want the writers to handle it with extra care I don't want to see these kind of characters say, or do anything kids don't need to know about until they're old enough to understand. I think the Loud House is a good example of doing it right and wrong, the episode Overnight Success where they introduced Clyde's parents I think they handled it pretty well including the other episodes where they made an appearance and the episode L is for Love is where I think they didn't handle it very well. There are a lot of reasons why I don't like this episode but the way they handled revealing Luna being bi is one of them. Why didn't they do it like Clyde's parents? It was so natural the way they were introduced and I also like how they didn't make such a big deal about it I mean did they really need to make an episode about Luna's sexuality putting it on a pedestal? Couldn't they at least built up to it, like show a quick and small moments of Luna having an interest for both male and female before this episode or even have it be quickly mentioned that she dated a few people of both male and female before just so we can see that this didn't come out of nowhere. Also I'm not a fan of Sam as a love interest including the other characters from L is for Love, to me their introduction was bad, if it was the first season I would have been a little more lenient but it's not I expect a bit more when a show goes past the first season and from what I seen the Louds we're just dating a version of themselves and I just find that boring if Luna looks for a partner I think it should be someone who can make up for her own shortcomings not bring the same spiel as her and like you said they need to be characters first, the same goes for the other Louds. I don't mind if they ended up becoming friends but as a love interest it's not very interesting to me, these are just my two cents on this. :)

Ok, so obviously there's some backlash to this video, which prompted me to do some digging of my own, and what I found [my primary source being a desuarchive discussion board, so you can imagine the headache] is that the man interviewed is named Luke Weber, creator of the 'Bikini Cowgirl' graphic novel, and he apparently hasn't been blacklisted from the industry, but presumably said he did in an attempt to sway suspicion towards him to keep him from getting blacklisted [good luck with that] From what I saw he's apparently something of a creep who can be hard to work with sometimes and did some self-shipping artwork of him and Pearl from SU, as well as pursuing a romantic interest with one of his coworkers and apparently projecting that onto Pearl. Alright, fair enough; so he's a creep and is probably saying all of this because he's bitter towards everyone else. *_HOWEVER_*, throughout the discussion board I couldn't find any sources that could debunk the claims of the other people; literally all I could find were linked sources confirming some stuff about Weber, NOTHING debunking any claims about everyone getting a job because they've all dated each other or Alex Hirsch's alleged STD or whatever. So at best all that's confirmed is Weber's identity and that he's not too clean himself. But that doesn't mean that he's lying; he may be a slimy sewer rat with tons of his own $#@%, but everyone's $#@% ends up in the sewer eventually, so its only inevitable that he'd bring some of it with him, I'm just saying. I don't know how much of this is exaggerated [although I highly suspect Hirsch's pooping in a bucket is fabricated, at best just a running joke coworkers had that was never actually true] but in regards to not hiring people who are better qualified, given the 'quality' of Steven Universe I am inclined to believe that there is an amount of unprofessionalism going on and people who work there are having fun more than actually making cartoons of better quality [Illumination Pictures apparently treats it's staff incredibly well, but on the other hand its still Illumination Pictures we're talking about, so at least take that into consideration] From what I'm seeing in the comments section, this video confirms what a lot of people have been saying for the last few years. Its most likely not a horror story, but i doubt the industry at present is anything to be all that proud of. Oh, and as for the LGBT stuff which a lot of people have problem with EZ addressing? While he does seem to go a little too far with being edgy in criticizing the inclusion of the social politics, most of it in modern cartoons aren't even handled well; its just put there for brownie points and then usually handled rather badly [again I point to SU as an example] Is it a step in the right direction? Absolutely, or at least I think so; but I won't delude myself into thinking that its anything more than it actually is; a step. And that's all they've taken thus far. When I looked up the claim about the character Me-Mow, I saw no sources that confirmed there was 1) a contest about the character appearing on the show at all, every single source on the first five top results pages of google (those that were relevant by searching with quotes like "gunnar gilmore" "me mow" "pendleton ward character stealing" "adventure time character contest" etc etc) just says that Gunnar Gilmore and/or his mom sent the drawing into CN Studios and it was adapted, 2) nothing about the mental capability of the kid who originally drew Me-Mow is mentioned at all, 3) There was no controversy or payoff done by the studio recorded in any public venue? The only source I found for this cited THIS SPECIFIC VIDEO and it was on an amino. Idk, close evaluation of this seems to show that this source exaggerates or slanders just cuz. Poor leadership and poor staffing affected the quality of the shows, that's all I really believed out of all this, the rest I'm taking with healthy doses of SuS. Season 1 of AT isn't all that bad, though i'm glad it got cleaned up, otherwise I feel like we'd have several versions of Finn. Fat Finn, short Finn, 4 yr old artist Finn, etc.
