Is VTI with SCHD a good 2 fund portfolio for my Roth IRA?
@NewMoneyNurse3 ай бұрын
Hi there! Thank for watching! VTI and SCHD can be a powerful combo for your Roth IRA, but like any investing strategy, it depends on factors like your time horizon, your age, your target retirement age, etc. VTI gives you broad exposure to the entire U.S. stock market. It's great if you have a long time before retirement because it lets your money grow with the overall market and you have time to recover from any market drops. If you're still building your portfolio, this wide diversification can help you ride the ups and downs of the market over the years. SCHD adds a layer of stability by focusing on companies that pay dividends. These dividends can give you a steady income stream, which is ideal as you get closer to retirement or even during retirement.

They had a 3:1 split, I believe, a month or so ago. So, if you had one share of SCHD, it is now worth 3 shares. It doesn't change the value of the shares at the time of course. For example, if it was previously priced at 90$ for one share now its 30$ for 3 still totaling 90$. I don't know the reason behind the split, but there's a few articles or videos out there if you want to dig deeper into it.
