Ex socal kid here and I can confirm rangers came with beams until 1996. That build is giving me all the feels back from the 90s desert scene in San Diego where I grew up.

That Blazer build is wicked cool! Useless bit of trivia. Walker Evans used to come to my tiny hometown in AZ for a desert race every year when I was a kid. Other notable attendees would have been Ivan Stewart, Mickey Thompson, The Ford Rough Riders, Larry Ragland, etc.

That’s entirely dependent on your ESC. Some can be adjusted to allow more or less drag brake which effects its stopping abruptness. The stock RTR one doesn’t have much range but can be adjusted I believe. Check the manual!

I’ve recently purchased the proline I beam kit….Being I bleed blue I’m excited to do this build . On the down side I sold my one and only scx10 chassis a year ago….never realized how hard a scx10 or 10.2 chassis would be to find at a reasonable cost. All I need is the basic chassis and don’t need a full rig or kit…..even a used complete rig is $350+ on eBay ….hard to spend that kind of money when I’ll be stripping half of it away to do this beam conversion.

I had a 2wd 96 Ford ranger that I put a 5.5 inch lift on and they do have an ibeam front suspension... not sure if or what year they went away from it but in 96 they had it for sure.

I love that traxxas did an interior. They finally listened hahaha. You could make a Mazda grill. For a chunk of years the Mazda and for ranger were the same truck.. because Ford owned Mazda. My buddy's work truck is a ranger... but a Mazda... but under the hood a Ford hahahaha. Regardless I am very exited to see it done. Very cool, great work as always man. Wood grain fenders hahaha I am very interested in that new remote. I have to move away from flysky hahaha. Traxxas is for sure stepping their game up in the scale area. Josh is great at that redesigning or designing thing. The 10.3 just got way better. Just needs some hd44 axles now hahaha

You know... technically pre-runners have fibreglass (or carbon if you are sponsored) rear bed sides bolted to some sort of cage on the rear. Which means that lexan sides wouldn't technically be outside of scale seeing as lexan is the fibreglass of the scale world. (My world, my rules... well the world I like to live in anyway)

On that rear bed side piece layers are very visible, to avoid this, you can use a slicer feature called "adaptive layer height"

I like the new interior. But I would have expected your to do the Seats shiny, like leather or vinyl, and the floors and bed flat, if not even flocked (as carpeting was common).

As for the bedsides not fitting the wheelbase, extend the bedsides and make it a long bed since a 7’ bed was offered on the single cabs. I guess I lost, I didn’t think you’d make it past the 9th without Lexan. I’ll bet you don’t make it to spring without Lexan though.

Excellent job on the blazer! That is way cool! I grew up with these trucks back in the 80s. my brother and I had a 77 blazer with a 12 1/2 inch lift and 44 inch Fun Country tires. It was a “lifted Chevy!”
