I've never heard anyone say to focus on one or two core values for a particular day or situation before. I thought that's a pretty cool way to think about values because you can explore and delve deeper into one instead of living by several values daily which would make it harder to explore every value. It also could become overwhelming when you have to make a decision that doesn't align with every one of your values whereas focusing on one value can streamline your decision-making process for a particular situation. I will be carrying this idea forward with me. Thanks

I haven't watched this yet but I just happen to be on day 88 of journaling everyday, and it HAS been life changing. I'm doing voice memos instead of writing, but being able to self-reflect every day, and being able to replay those self-reflections, has allowed me to take small but measurable, meaningful steps towards progress. I'd wanted to journal for ages but I could never get into it habitually. For me, switching to speaking instead of writing made it so much easier to keep up with, but I think the benefits that come from self-reflection journaling are tremendous regardless of how you do it.

Be careful not to become anxious when you can't do these rituals. it looks just like replacing your source of anxiety. i have never relied on rituals all my life. i fight anxiety itself as a mentality and i face uncertainty with courage. Journaling is very good though for other reason than daily rituals.

just received your book last night and as someone who has never journaled very much before, the thought of filling in the contents if I wasn't sure what to write down felt a bit overwhelming. I think you clarified a lot of my concerns and confusions here. looking forward to the journ(aling)ey! thank you for all that you do 😀

Thanks for making this video such great tips! For mood tracking something that worked for me for some time was tracking both mood and stress. I noticed that if I had an event coming up that I had to plan for, like during the holidays my stress would go up but my mood was very high, excitable, energetic. I also started hourly mood journaling during days where I felt high anxiety and that helped my brain. It's hard for me to remember to journal everyday though have to get back to that.

My therapist suggest me to journal and after 3-4 weeks I've stopped completely... I was basically "trauma dumping" on myself. I'm not even sure how that's possible but I was. I like to think about my stuff but since I've started therapy, 3-4 weeks, I've been doing nothing but thinking. Sure, there was a lot and there's still a lot to unpack and fix but do you guys or Dr. Ana have any concise tips on how to journal and be more productive with it? Because what I did was: instead of talking with people or thinking about things, I'd just note it down, even if it was just like "Ugh, I really hate that X Y and Z"
@SparkleStyle123
@SparkleStyle123 Жыл бұрын
In my experience, my traumatic symptoms got worse before they got better in therapy. I think it’s just got to do with the increased exposure to the memories in order for them to be changed. I get what you mean with the journaling sometimes I feel like instead of it being relaxing or something I’m there furiously writing about shitty situations. But when I realise I’m doing that, it helps to think of what I’d tell someone else who was thinking/feeling all that. That shift in perspective helps me be self compassionate and productive with my situation. Also random but I use chatgpt to give me a structured journaling template. Just tell it your issue and ask it to give you one
@BatmanAOMC
@BatmanAOMC Жыл бұрын
That does make sense. Things feel a bit... worse sometimes. Even stuff that I didn't see as "traumatic" or "bad" are suddenly taken into a new perspective. Not to overshare, but I mentioned something and she said "That wasn't just something weird from him, it was an act of violence" and that threw me into a massive loop of... shit things were worse than I thought. Kinda wish I'd lived in the ignorance of it all ahaha but it is what it is. Thank you for the words and the tip!@@SparkleStyle123

i’m not an expert or nothing but i went through this exact phase for many many months before my entries started getting more positive. even if you’re just “traumadumping” as u say, it’s really beneficial. when i started journaling i only wrote about a guy i was obsessed with and was in a toxic relationship with. journaling kinda broke that cycle for me with basically no effort on my part lol. the more i journaled about it the more and more i knew the relationship wasn’t worth it and i broke up with him. power through it. keep journaling, once a week or even just once a month. try to do gratitude journaling but don’t force it if you can’t find things to be grateful for.
@BatmanAOMC

@@idunnowhat2puthere Maybe I'll do it once a week. I was doing it every day, every time a thought appeared I'd write it down. Also, I am a stranger but I am proud that you walked away from that 😊💛

I think that phase happens for most people, i once filled like 10 pages of just spewing out the most traumatic events in my life. Break ups, bullying, arguments. After writing it down i felt a little better and after a couple of weeks, i got an insight about myself i had never had before :)

It would be great to offer an alternative based in Europe. Delivery costs more than the price of the journal itself, unfortunately.

I feel that offering an ebook for this journal would be doing customers a disservice because so much of it is meant to be filled out on the page itself and the everyday template repeats itself for 90 days, so I don’t want people to buy an ebook and be disappointed in what they can do with it. However, there will be an ebook version of the next mental health journal I come out with next year! That one will have a variety of journaling templates/rubrics that don’t rely so much on using the page itself.
@nordicman595

Thanks for responding!@@AnaPsychology I meant that it would be nice to have a shipment center based in central Europe (Germany for example) to reduce delivery costs. I think this can be done through an agent who buys enough quantities of the journal and then mediates selling them to individuals.

So I made myself a challenge mainly because I left like telling clients to use journaling was just not as effective as it presented itself to be so I started doing like three weeks ago. The most difficult thing I believe is simply consistency and oversimplification. That's my take lol

Thank you so much for your videos and the talent that you offer to the world Ana. I have started day one of your book and I am already happy with the results and goals I have set for the day and for the next three months. To be completely honest, I have started journaling recently but I realized that when I journaled, I really was only focusing on my negative parts of my life, stuff in my life that needed to improve, everything that I felt was wrong with me. And while I do think that regular journaling, for me, does help me understand where my issues stem from and looking at them deeper than surface level, it still doesn’t give me “answers” to my problems. I have limerence over an emotionally unavailable person for practically going on a year now. I suffer for the sake of our weird relationship. His needs are always getting met, but as long my feelings are still there, mines are never not. I know where it all stems from, family upbringing and all, and I am very well aware that his feelings don’t reciprocate but just wants the benefits. But because my feelings for him are way too deep now, and since it’s practically has been a year, I find it harder to leave. One of my goals for this journal is to start choosing people who choose me. Start honoring my own needs. Meaning starting today, I want to finally stop this pattern, focus on other positive things in my life, and end my suffering over a relationship that’s not going anywhere. I plan on coming back and editing this comment once I’m done with my ninety days. But seriously Ana, thank you. It’s stuff like this where I am immensely grateful for the content you put out. You have given me a light to see at the end of a tunnel. Thank you.
