Y'know, before I first listened to this, I don't think I ever quite expected it to be rockabilly. Clearly, Elton John is singing about wanting to be Elvis Presley.

Did anyone else notice that one of lines in this song ("The time has come as someone said To talk of many things May be true But I would rather stick to talking kings") is a paraphrase of a verse from Lewis Carrol's narrative poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter" is a narrative poem by Lewis Carroll that appeared in his 1871 novel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There ("The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes-and ships-and sealing-wax- Of cabbages-and kings- And why the sea is boiling hot- And whether pigs have wings.") ? Got to hand it to Tim Rice, he really showed his work with thosw lyrics! 😃👍

Great cover/alternate version and has some classic Elton John charm. Truly a great example of how "Less is More" (it's got less instruments and is less complex but just as good).

That piano solo is prefect for a pause of words till Elton John repeats the words from before. Very fine work.

Simba was only a child; he didn't know that his dad would have to pass on in order for him to be king. All that mattered to him at that point was the exciting prospect of being king.

@@kelly_seastar This was the original version written for the film. They changed it for the film but Elton John recorded it for himself. He did the same with "Can You Feel the Love Tonight."

I feel like Elton John tapping my fingers as if I am playing the piano singing along with him! No one saying do this. No one saying be there. No one saying stop that. No one saying see here! Free to run around all day! I'll be free to do it all my way!
@yeonjookim811311 жыл бұрын
it very much sounds like him. I think you're thinking of Elton John's old voice, his voice prior to his drastic voice change (your song, goodbye yellow brick road etc). he still sings the very same way. I'm surprised it escaped you.

It's "I'm gonna be the main event" Not 'mane' +You have to put a comma between "super" and "awesome" in "My reign will be a super (COMMA!!!!!!!!), awesome thing" line! The rest is OK. Cool tune. Bdst lyrics in it.
