1.4tsi/1.5tsi/2.0tsi all pretty good we'll built engines in well built cars. VW says lifespan is about 200k miles and generally they make that without problems after that they can go for longer sometimes. However keep in mind it will simply wear out from the turbo strain and break so just buy a new car by then. Thing is though in the usa people drive more then here in Europe. In Europe gas prices are 3.5 times higher aswell. So it makes sense to produce these engines because of gas mileage and people here tend to not drive 300-400k miles with one car anyway since that is 30 years of driving for most people.

Nice to see a German buying a non German car. Your Mercedes and BMWs and VAGs are overated. You should have bought normal ICE Corolla with no hybrid. Less complicated. Its been awarded "engine of the year" for nine consecutive years or so.. Direct injection turbocharged back in the day was an innovation. You get the horsepower, the torque, the fuel economy and fewer emmisions and all of that from a 1.4 engine. Thats called "efficiency" and if an engine is efficient is not the "worst" for sure. To get all these goods ofcourse you need high pressure fuel, high temperatures in the combustion chambers etc so you sacrifice a little bit of reliability, but you cant have it all.

Went to dealer and asked how much is one of the rear light unit complete. 100£ including Vat. That was an experience mistake. Pads front for my VW touran was 89 £ including Vat. In India too VW has the same crappy reputation but it has a brand value and people buy it over Camry just imagine 😂😂

@Der Schwindel anyone who buys a Volkswagen never buys it again 😂 only auto journalist who keep blabbering about performance promote Volkswagen, and worst Volkswagen sells the 3cyl turbo engines to us 😭

my farther has ony ever owned and driven Volkswagen golfs for his entire life and has had no reliability problems, the 1.4 in the VW has more power than a corolla , rides better, handles better and is built with better materials it's german metal. Yeah it's not as reliable but it's got it's pros and it's quite a nice car.

India....70% of the population lives on less than $2 a day but the government spends billions on buying Cold War era destroyers and aircraft carriers from Russia.

Sadly that's true, but not for me. If it were my money, I'd choose something Japanese in this price range (in fact I did). Two things stop me from ever buying a VW: - It's Hitler's car company; - Diesel gate

Same in Europe. VW has a brand value not reliability or value for money.

Timing belt is the advantage with VAG vehicles considering longevity of their timing chains. All you have to do is replace them on time.

VW reliability..My son has Jetta mark V -07 2, 0 tfsi 280 hp. 290000 km and so far no problems. My -99 Passat 1,9 tdi has 567 000 km and works fine, I use it avery day. It still does 48 mpg. Only Volkswagens for me, please.

So he has a new VW and he's mad because of a timing belt?lol 😉 Hey Scotty, I challenge you that your Corolla didn't last as long as my GTI has. I have 885k miles on it and it's still going. What's your Corolla have?

It will take sales away from toyota, so it must be a bad car lolz. Good lord, such a bad review. We've got +-2000 of these cars in our company fleet, we have our own garage to handle the the servicing and repairs, the only thing that goes bad on these motors is the waterpomp and sometimes the coils and sparkplugs. I've seen 2 or 3 engines being ruined because of external damages such as a destroyed sump or from people not noticing the overheating problem when the waterpump goes bad. I believe a new 1.4tsi longblock from vw is sub 3k€, so not the end of the world. Never had a timing belt slip or break on these...1.6tdi or 2.0tdi is a whole different story.

Scott, you got to be honest bc we all saw you are loving this car. You love it so much that you wish it had a real lifetime timing chain.

Warranty Direct insurance company rates VW the 2nd Least Reliable engine due to frequent breakdowns. My Beetle turbo engine died at just 70,000 miles so the WD rating seems accurate. My 2 Hondas went 300,000+ miles with no engine breakdown. Also VW commits criminal acts by cheating on EPA and EU pollution tests

@@electrictroy2010 As an owner of VW and Honda (2012 CRV and 2014 Jetta), my true ownership tells me Honda isn't that great for reliability while VW isn't that bad as well. I do the service myself; noticeably Honda uses cheap parts e.g. rotors, pads, battery and many more.

Well I’ve owned 2 Hondas that went over 300,000 miles without engine breakdown. The VW didn’t died at just 1/3 that distance

Honda has several cars that passed 1 million miles on the original engine. VW has ZERO. Statistically VW engines breakdown more often than any other brand (except Land Rover) .

ok, I missed the moment when Scotty says it's the worst car ever made.... To me it's the best budget/commuter car you can buy today.... and 1.4 jetta comes with Japanese Aisin transmission, only GLI (2.0 engine) comes with DSG.... My wife gets 47 m/gl on highway, really don't know why would anybody buy anything else as a commuter car. But then again, we all have our preferences and different tastes.
