I don't know man, I think extreme boost + keeping it 4 bangers to keep it lightweight is what you need to go with(in my humble opinion), hemi is always a good idea but a man with your skill can do much more, love your videos.

That's what i think too to be honest. I'd rebuild the 2.4 with a nice set of .020 over JE Pistons or something, put a nice set of cams in there with a big turbo and refresh the transmission so it handles the new found power and keep it like that. To me, a SRT4 is too special to be swap with something.. i'd say, swap a 392 in a SRT design (the SRT4 lookalike we got in Canada with a plain ass 2.0, don't know if the US has those tbh..) or maybe do a Rob Dahm and 392 swap a Civic Si or something that would piss off someone in the import crowd. Idk..

Really for me this is fulfilling a childhood dream, the car is very nostalgic to me because of the 1st gen I had 20 years ago. Plus, I've done the front wheel drive thing, not really a fan. Also, I'm on a mission to show that changing it to the 392 will not make it some heavy beast, In fact, my opinion is that it will barely be 150lbs heavier than stock. I even bought a scale to try to prove it! 👍

I like the new idea with the neon. When you showed the 300 you was thinking of putting the 396 in , I was a bit disappointed. I really wanted to see that Power plant in a neon. Thanks for going back to the Neon idea. Mostly converting a front wheel drive to a rear wheel drive.

Looks like a fun project. My radiator finally cracked on the inlet so I just did a cooling system overhaul on my 05 Magnum. Bigger radiator, water pump, thermostat, housing, coolant reservoir, cooling fans, all hoses. I didn't touch the temp sensor or the heater core. Are you planning to fix that heater core on yours? I really enjoy your videos man. Its guys like you, real car mechanics that give me the confidence to take on big car repair projects. I'm really looking forward to this Neon build.

Limp mode is likely due to the cam sensor wiring. It likes to break the wires inside the sheething right at the connector, so it looks fine on the outside but it doesn't have any connectivity inside. They have rewire kits for it. The cam magnet can also be an issue, sometimes just cleaning it fixes the issue but most times you have to get a new one, I think they get weak or something and the sensor can't pick up the signal.
@RemnantSRT440

I changed the cam sensor and magnet, amd with OEM part, but I think the limp mode is now associated with jumping time. That's the last issue I was intending on tackling, but never got to it

My first brand new car was a 2005 black SRT-4. I saved money from my deployment to Iraq to buy that car. It was an amazing car right from the factory. Governed at 155mph from the factory and yes it did it. That was the beginning of me modifying cars and really getting into aftermarket upgrades. I dedicated a lot of time and money under the hood of that car from cams, full turbo kit, intercooler, sheet metal intake manifold, clutch, 3in. turbo back exhaust and the list goes on and on. At the time my go to source of information was SRT Forums. I'm not sure if it still is but the wealth of information that was on there in 2005 was unbelievable. Unfortunately, before I was able to dyno it and take it to the track it was stolen out of my driveway. The police found it a few days later and it was stripped and burned. Every day that car pops up in my head and I really miss it. Goodluck with yours and I'll be sure to follow this project.

@@robdubas4305 One time I was on the freeway and some kids pulled up in a STI. They pulled next to me like they were going to do a street roll, but then lowered down their rear windows (Power windows). LOL they knew... I shrugged and laughed. At the time, they were pretty much one of the fastest rides around for how cheap they were. And let's be honest, they were beat on hard, and most of them took it without much complaint. The T850 which people liked to complain about was rated for what, 250 ft/lb (Crank) and people were putting well over 500 w/tq through them. They were practical also. I bought a 10 foot long 2x6 and was able to fit it entirely inside the car, through the back seat, and actually close the trunk. Heck, you can't do that with a long bed pickup.

Man I am excited. I've had two SRT-4's. Silver 04 Stage 2 and Yellow 03 Stage 3 (With '05 LSD). Man I hope you reconsider the 392 for another less cool but totally worthwhile car like a Dodge Shadow or something. There are too many SRT4's already tore up from the massive torque steer. There are so many things I would recommend to upgrade it, and I'd totally be willing to give you what I think are great mods I did before I sold it, but I'll stick to what I know. Getting into gear...The clutch pivot forks on the SRT4's are known to "wear out" from the soft cast iron pads rocking on a harder metal. When this happens, it's hard to get enough clutch disengagement to get it into gear. I got an "Ed Peters" modified fork, but I know you could totally do the same yourself. Basically grind the pivot points flat, then drill/tap for some stainless steel button head bolts. The stainless is a lot harder than the cast iron and you will get the clutch engagement you need. However, the plastic clutch line is also known to swell a bit so especially if you go with a stiffer pressure plate, then you really need to upgrade to a braided stainless line. I'm not sure about the limp home mode, but I know you got HP Tuners now, so looking at the stored codes and live data will probably get you in the right direction. Man I miss my SRT4, I wouldn't be surprised if I bought a third one in a few years.
