Its possible for a daughter in law and a mother in law to have a beautiful relationship. I see people commenting as if all are like dogs and cats. Sometimes people's advice is not required at all You do you . Only ignorant daughters in law and mother in laws destroy a beautiful relationship. If everyone knows where they stand, there is no problem at all. The mother in law will never change that she remains the mother of that man and also deserves respect and love. The daughter in law is the wife of the man and so deserves love and respect Thats it.

It’s fine but remember you are the wife of that house and your husband should support that. Build her own quarters as to help keep peace.

From one December to another, mother in law not an issue, treat with respect and be kind, listen, no judging, different culture and don’t forget they have mindset…They also love to see that you love their son.. God blessing as you Honour her… You got this ES! 🤷🏽♀️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎉💕🙏🏽

God bless you ES for supporting your mother-in law. In my opinion, she needs her own space. Two women cant operate the same home, am afraid of the cultural conflict that is bound to show up between both of you. Shes just got to have her own space so that you both can live in peace. Love you my daughter!

@@DIYHOUSEANDFARM I admire the dynamic between you and Vin, you guys are an attractive couple. When he said, "behave" I chuckled then he said prepare. You are quite respectful of the culture, polite, and has navigated well. So, you will be fine. I love how African elders live with families as opposed to living by themselves or a nursing home.

Sis, let keep it real. You’re married to an African man with no kids. Not to mention you’re an African American woman. My best advice to you is to listen to Ghanaian’s sister experience when it comes to mother in laws . This is something I’ve learned 27 years of being married to an African man. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing because you can’t put all mother in laws in the same box. I’m just saying treat her with respect like she’s your own mother, keep your space and keep your books.

you don't have to be nervous about African Mothers, they don't have so many expectations. As long as you dress modestly, treat them with respect, cook for them good food and give them a comfortable place to sleep, that's all they want. Often they come because they want to spend time with grand kids, they give them joy.
