Both wheels have their pros and cons but it's really shameful that they burn up from stuff like this, people keep defending it as "it's not their intended purpose" but that's just ludicrous, of course the motherboards COULD be designed with beefier components so it wouldn't happen and of course there COULD be safety features that would disengage the motor under excessive stress instead of the motherboard burning, those are things lacking and nothing to do with indented purpose. Personally I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for beefier components and not compromise in quality.

I can give 5 reasons why the EXN is not a better EUC. 1. hollow bore reliability issues 2. 6p vs 10p battery configuration, you won't be able to go as fast as long on the EXN. 3. crappy shell. 4. overheating issues in normal summer temperatures 5. Sherman is actually faster in REAL speed not app-reported speed. Also, didn't you do the EXACT same thing to a Sherman last year (blow a board) when they first came out? What makes you think with your weight and an even steeper hill will net a different result? PS: I have an EXN on order, so its not like I'm saying this as a biased Veteran user, I will own both wheels (already owned and sold the Monster Pro, its an overweight turd of a wheel).
@urthpainter3 жыл бұрын
your tune will change when you get the EX.N and ride it. IMO the EX.N has a brilliant ride feel. It is powerful, responsive, nimble and somehow just as stable as the Veteran with higher pedals. In Fact - while I haven't had any significant wobbles on the Sherman, I have had little wobbles here and there. The EX.N? none -and I've been riding it right up to 40mph since day 2. And - every day it's getting better! imo - the Sherman has two things - top speed and durability. Both great wheels. I love the Sherman. If the EX.N lasts, once it gets over 1500 miles, I'll likely love it as well edit: Veteran also would have range - if both were ridden at an average of 25mph, I'd guess the Sherman would get 20+ more miles. EX.N also runs hot generally speaking, and I wonder if it isn't easy to overheat. I've also drained the EX.N battery alarmingly fast when averaging speeds 30mph and over

@@urthpainter Wobbles? I haven’t wobbled any wheel in over 2 years and i’ve owned plenty of them, especially not the Sherman.
@official.electricdreams3 жыл бұрын
Theres a bunch of reasons why the EXN is a far worse wheel than the Veteran, but I wanted to show a different perspective. If those five listed things matter to you that may change your perspective about which wheel to get. And yes you are correct, but as stated in the video: The wheel I had was first production batch, they have since claimed to increased the safety on Shermans (through firmware), my own personal sherman which had later firmwares didnt have this issue. However the condition the motherboard was left in after this test was horrific: 1) QC on firmware is not good enough leading motherboards to still blow like this after a steep hil climb, and even worse than production batch. 2)After I blew the board on my first batch production sherman they flashed my wheel with a custom firmware to prevent such things but not to general production use. My own wheel after firmware updates would not blow and I had climbed many steep climbs on it. Something with their QC has gone wrong, maybe they changed the mofsets manufacturer... I'm not sure. But as a Veteran Sherman fan I will no longer defend a brand that allows their controllers to blow up like this. The + and - terminals on the battery could have easily shorted and caused even further damage.

3:42 - I sold my EX.N because I could turn it on (at ambient temperature of 80* F) and ride it for less than 2 minutes (yes I actually timed it) and have it overheat. I am 210 lbs and I live in an area with extreme hills, but that doesn't make it okay that the thing overheats so badly. I tried a hill climb that is incredibly similar to what you did on the EX.N and it failed. I was surprised to find that my V11 was more capable of climbing the same hill than the EX.N. When a motor is wound for high speed its going to have less low end torque. The EX.N tries to make up for that by feeding the motor a huge amount of power to get that low end torque which makes it overheat and it can drain batteries at an alarming rate when riding in a very hilly area. I don't understand why people think the Sherman is so great. My friend has one and I tried it out and the level of quality on the Sherman reminded me of Gotway/Begode (which makes sense since its madeby former Gotway engineers). I've heard that the Sherman is higher quality than Gotway wheels, but it doesn't appear to be that much higher quality.

Going slow like this means the duty cycle on the Mosfets are slower, so they are under more stress for longer before the phase shifts and the next bank of Mosfets are under load. If it uses 12 mosfets, then theres 4 per phase. They clearly could not handle it. Actually, i think they might be ok, but its the overall pcb design that is bad, the traces are not scaled for maximum amps possible, as that would mean the board would get a lot larger.

Thank for the test, I hope for a follow-up. I'm a fan of hill climbing and while I have a Sherman on order, I know its safety is poorly implemented and it can self-destruct. Exactly where is the limit is unclear which is the most annoying part. Leaperkim advertise the wheel gradability as 30° and it clearly fails to match the specification. A friend of mine burned his new Sherman as well while climbing. Leaperkim is supposed to send him a replacement board that would be stronger. It's odd and I wonder if the board would be flashed with the same safer firmware as what you had, or have different hardware. Please keep us updated! They don't beep to warn you that your overpowering it (the S18 does) and then they just burn up when you push them too hard, even though the wheels did nothing to warn you that they were being pushed too hard. I call the S18 feature an 'overpower alarm' because it beeps at you based on the fact that the wheel knows your using too much power, regardless of the speed you are going. Most wheels (if not all of them other than the S18) do not have this feature and they use a nonsensical alarm system that is based only on the current battery level and speed. I wrote more about this topic here: forum.electricunicycle.org/topic/23128-what-exactly-is-pwm-and-questions-about-speed-alarms/?do=findComment&comment=369156 All of the wheel manufacturers NEED to implement overpower alarms, its an easy feature to engineer. All you need to do is determine the max amount of power that the thing can handle (which is slightly complex as most can handle a huge amount of power for a very short duration but not for long) and then put a safety margin on it and have the wheel start beeping at you and then tilt back if your getting anywhere close to overpowering it.

That's my issue with EUcs, they simply randomly die. That's unacceptable for me in case of a $4000 product, that I use it and it simple blow up and everyone seems to be okey with it
@igorgoga79853 жыл бұрын
better connector sockets have to be implemented on the boards, cable disconnects so no need to unplug motor cables from the board itself. Enough of flimsy little plastic rectangles on the board that take pretty much all the cables. Fix all that, gotway

You went up faster the last time and so drew more current. Clearly not enough cooling when driving the motor at max current. Kind of expected, I guess! A bit of fun, eh?

How not to treat your expensive motorwheel. These are both cruiser wheels. Expecting them to pull you up a steep incline like that 3 times is asking for trouble. Respect your machine and don't ask it for more than it can give. Can't wait for the speed test lol
@official.electricdreams3 жыл бұрын
Regardless of the limit the wheels software should let the user wheel to stop with tilt back or alarm, not just self destruct.
@MCCOLDT3 жыл бұрын
@@official.electricdreams The software probably doesn't take steep hillclimbing into account. The board should be better protected...sure. Agreed. But the board shouldnt be exposed to that amount of heat and stress. What is it you want to do on this wheel....climb a mountain? I just think all this "lets see what it can do/take" content is how accidents are going to happen and break things for everyone. Each to thier own though. Don't let a bit of critisim stop you making content. Or having fun. Peace out!
@YourAubsome3 жыл бұрын
These wheels are not properly engineered. What car or motor cycle can you buy that will burn up if you try to drive it up a hill that is steeper than it can handle? Also the S18 is proof that there is an easy solution to this problem, has an overpower alarm (this is what I'm calling it as it doesn't seem to be well documented) - it beeps at you when your about to overpower it at ANY speed, not just some hard coded BS alarm that is based on nothing other than current battery level and speed. I wrote more about this here: forum.electricunicycle.org/topic/23128-what-exactly-is-pwm-and-questions-about-speed-alarms/?do=findComment&comment=369156

after watching your video, I think I will still buying a Veteran Sherman for Christmas Gift to MYSELF, haha, has been laying my eyes on this EUC for long time, the KingSong S18 I have is just not enough, and the Veteran Sherman seems to be better than most of the EUC out there, Hopefully I am not wrong.

Good video.👍 Definetly not convice is better than a sherman. Also is still a begode wheel.👎 and to carry a sherman up strairs is better if you are smarth and push wheel agains the steps to move it up instead of lifthing the wheel. I dont carry my sherman so far. And i have lots of steps on my building.

Looking to the wall of the pylon of that bridge (the "pythagorean triangle" at about 4:20), the mathematician in me :P says that the slope is way over 30°. You measure the first slope, but not the second, after changing the location. That's true that the wheels shouldn't burn, and the protection sucks in both of them, but about performance or comparison, the video has no relevance. Two people jump from fifth floor, one dies, one survives to jump a second time, then dies too. It means nothing. The datasheet specification of people say they should not jump from the fifth floor, or if they do, you shouldn't expect them to live. :D
