He was a cultural GIANT. He didnt just love black music, he was a HUGE FAN of Spanish music and the cultures. He loved Italian music. He loved Native American culture. He just LOVED PEOPLE, and anyone who called Elvis a racist just is speaking from their ass, and not from any platform of fact.

Elvis is universal, Tom Hanks said, if you wash up on any distant shore and you mention Elvis no matter what language they will know who you are talking about. Thanks Ray, what a treat for us all.

While Elvis may have learned this song phonetically, he still makes it sound damn good. English, Spanish, German, Italian - he was willing to get out there and make it work seamlessly! Movie or no movie, concert or no concert, EP always gave it his all, even when he hated what he was doing - and all because he didn't want to disappoint his fans. I don't think there were or are many other artists who would do that. Thanks, Ray - missed you yesterday - hope all is well. Love ya, KP

Loved your comment MS. Kathryne! An I totally agree no other artist would’ve done what Elvis had to do in a lot of his movies! But he proved what made him Great even when he was Embarrassed and Singing Old McDonald had a farm on the back of a truck with chickens! Nobody couldn’t tell how bad he hated it & was embarrassed! But he did! The Col & Hollywood took advantage of Elvis an never let him play the roles he wanted! We know why he hated doing some movies. Others say he didn’t have to that! Bullcrap cause he did & we know sometimes Parker done signed him up to do 3 movies in a roll without Elvis knowing what they were or seeing a script just because of his contract! I can’t think of anyone else in the business did what Elvis had to do! But he proved everyone wrong as much as he hated it he never sang a song bad! Nobody loved & treated their fans like Elvis did an still don’t! Take care,Stay safe, hug,prayers & blessings sent to you & your family! 😍👑❤️😇🙏🕯️🌹♥️

Actually there are 10 takes for this song, with 3 of them being complete takes. The master is spliced from Take 2 and Take 6. Splicing takes to create the master version was very rare for Elvis. He had 4 more attempts after the full take on Take 6 but none were full song, suggesting that splicing 2 takes was their only option. I think Elvis was brave to attempt a foreign language song … hats off to him!

Your reaction to this one is priceless R’Elvis. I watched your face light up and your smile was fab. Elvis obviously hit a sweet spot with you today!! I read an article that said Elvis worried so much about this song , wanting to sing it correctly, one of the film crew said her dad would help him. So a Mexican came on set and spent hours with Elvis going through the song making sure Elvis pronounced every word properly. He said Elvis was meticulous and a perfectionist, only letting the man leave once he had it learned and firmly in his head. Just shows how much Elvis cared about his fans not being disappointed. And blatantly, you were not disappointed!! Do watch the film, it’s fun and also a touching back story that Elvis acts well. 👌💕🕺

FABULOUS REACTION RAY GOODNESS GRACIOUS GREAT BALLS OF 🔥🎧🔥🎧🔥🎧🔥🎧🔥🎧🔥🎧💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙 THANK YOU RAY!!! AND THANK YOU MISS HELENE 💜🌹💛💜🌹💛💜🌹💛💜🌹💛 And FYI: Yes I know that there are different dialects of Spanish. I knew people in my teen years who were of Puerto Rican descent, Dominican descent, and believe it or not, Trinidadian descent (and also Haitian decent, but they speak a French patois, not a Spanish one). I also have a friend who attended MANY a quincenera and grew up in Mexican culture. So yes. I know from people I was and are friends with that there are many different Spanish dialects. Even in Mexico depending where you are they speak different regional dialects. The same as in Africa. Every African country has their own "main" language. In Senegal, the common language is French. (I know because I knew a guy who was from Senegal. He made the decision to take the risk to come here to America because at the time his two daughters would not be able to continue their education past the fifth grade. So he gave up being a doctor in Senegal to be a taxi driver here in America so his daughters could go to school past the fifth grade.) Same as in Italy. The Italian dialect that is taught to Americans is the Florentine dialect. It's considered the most beautiful as well. Buuttt... There are other Italian dialects. Neaopolitano, Romano, Calabrian, Venetian etc; not to mention the island dialects- Maltese, Corsican, Sicilian. So it's reeeaaallllyyyy common for one language to have branches. Especially the Latin languages, otherwise known as the Romantic Languages. Speaking of Italian! RAY I CAN GIVE YOU ELVIS SINGING ITALIAN! ELVIS "SANTA LUCIA" RECORDED 1963: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqSmc42updSkf8U 1:15 LONG THOUGH SO IT'S SHORT. Unfortunately I do not have anything where Elvis is singing in Russian or French. I DO HAVE ELVIS PLAYING THE PIANO SOLO (no singing though don't know if you care about that): ELVIS- MELANCHOLY PIANO (I THINK THE TUNE IS "I'LL BE HOME AGAIN KATHLEEN") FILMED IN LAS VEGAS IN 1970 AFTER REHEARSALS: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWnQYqeipNyqga8 2:11 SO AGAIN SHORT VIDEO And now for an Elvis Extra (the following is a snippet from an article I found): Wallis informed the Hollywood press that in December 1962, a crew would travel to Acapulco for location work, and that principal photography on Fun in Acapulco would begin in Hollywood a month later. Background photography was shot in Acapulco, as well as some action footage of Mexican divers leaping off the cliffs of La Quebrada into the bay. Some long-range action scenes were also filmed using a double for Elvis. All of the principal photography with the cast was done at Paramount Studios and nearby locations in Hollywood. In the finished print, it’s very obvious that Elvis at times is performing in front of background footage shot in Mexico. For instance, when Elvis sings “Mexico” as he and Raoul ride a bicycle through the streets of Acapulco, he was actually pedaling a stationary bike in Hollywood. The same goes for the blue Pacific Ocean background as Elvis prepares to dive from the height of a thirteen-story building. In building hype in the Hollywood press for Fun in Acapulco, Wallis described a couple dramatic scenes in the script. In one, the producer explained that Elvis would dive over 130 feet from a rock cliff into a narrow strip of water off Acapulco Bay. Wallis meant “Elvis’ character,” not Elvis himself, but, amazingly, when the film came out, a few reviewers thought Presley actually had made the dive. One reviewer declared, “At one point in the plot, Presley displays his swimming and diving ability in a spectacular plunge 136 feet from the cliff to the surf below.” Fun in Acapulco’s performance at the box office, while not spectacular, was certainly solid. It’s box office earnings in the U.S. and Canada totaled $6.82 million, ranking it twelfth highest among all of Presley’s 31 theatrical films. Rental earnings on the movie netted Paramount $3.1 million. Fun in Acapulco ranked number 33 on Variety’s list of “Top Grossing Films of 1963.” The picture also deserves some credit for maintaining Elvis Presley’s star-power momentum heading into his next film role in what would become the biggest box office hit of his career - Viva Las Vegas. - © Alan Hanson | 2019 TCB ⚡ & TLC ❤ & peace ✌& blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕

@cherylspencer8024 I'll have to watch "Fun In Acapulco" again just to watch the part you talked about. Yes, I have noticed that too regarding unintentional (or maybe lazy) editing bloopers in Elvis movies. Interesting about your Italian heritage! Very cool! Yes, I think it wasn't until the latter half of the 1800's that the the mainland of Italy and the island of Sicily was consolidated under one main government body which of course was headquartered in Northern Italy. Southern Italians and Sicilians felt that their best interests would be set aside or ignored in favor of Northern Italian interests. So there was some grumbling to be sure. I grew up in NJ lol. Lots of Americans of Italian descent in that part of the country 😀 I no longer live there. I'm in the Pacific Northwest now. Totally different mindset/ attitude. Peace ✌ & blessings 🙏 to you & yours 💕

Fun song! Fun reaction!🫶☀️ Elvis wasn't allowed to enter Mexico to film this movie. I heard, it was because of the rumour that he should have said sth bad about mexicans. Another version is that he didn't play on the birthday for the daughter of the mexican president. Maybe someone knows.!?
@crazeeeegirl
@crazeeeegirl 7 ай бұрын
An apparently unproven article quoting Elvis as saying 'I'd rather kiss 3 black girls over 1 Mexican girl' started a mass banning of his records/merchandise and stuff. Decades later, it came to light that the false Presley quotes were the work of Ernesto Peralta Uruchurtu, a powerful politician and the Regent of Mexico City. Uruchurtu allegedly sent a blank check to Presley's Los Angeles offices in early 1957 in return for Presley's appearance at the 15th birthday bash of the daughter of a powerful media mogul on whose behalf he was acting. The invitation was not agreed upon, and the check was returned, despite the fact that the mogul had already began to boast publicly that Presley would appear at his daughter's birthday party. The story in "Excélsior" was then planted both as a form of revenge, and as a way of explaining why he did not come to Mexico to sing. In the 1999 book Refried Elvis: The Rise of the Mexican Counterculture and other sources, it eventually came out that Elvis did not make the racist statements - he was set up by the media after he slighted a Mexican politician by refusing to give a private concert for his teenage daughter and her friends. In later years, Elvis apparently took pains to set the record straight about the Mexican controversy. About two decades after his death on Aug. 16, 1977, BMG Mexico went further, issuing a series of Elvis Le Canta a Mexico (“Elvis Sings to Mexico”) albums to celebrate the legend’s legacy south of the border. The liner notes went so far to refer to him as “The King of Ranchera Music.”

Yes Marion. It’s a fact that Elvis was banned by the Mexican Government as “ Persona Non Grata” because of rumours that Elvis did not like Mexican women, which caused riots in the streets of Mexico City when one of his films was released. It transpired that a high up official had asked Elvis to sing at his daughter’s 12 th Birthday, but due to his movie commitments Elvis was unable to do it. Unfortunately, the Mexican had already boasted to his family and, more importantly,his important friends, that Elvis would be there. To save face, he said that he’d cancelled Elvis because he heard Elvis deride Mexican women. ( no such thing has ever been witnessed or reported) but on his word alone, Elvis was banned, hence all film of “Elvis “ in Mexico was his stunt double. Just another unjustified hate against Elvis. 👌💕🕺
