This was the one song that Ed King said that he never wanted to try to play again. It's the only Skynyrd song that gave him fits every time he played it. He said "Steve Gains was an amazing guitar player." You played the hell out of this tune. awesome performance. was this a tough song for you to learn? It feels very intimidating to me. hahaha..

It gave me fits too in my Southern Rock band from 30 years ago and still gives me fits 30 years later! I understand where Ed was coming from…

Growing up in Beaver Falls Pa. in the 70s. Pot head wine head. All I did was listen to this band. And this song just intrigued the hell out of me. I heard the Delta in there. I heard Memphis,. New Orleans. Chicago. But most Definatly. Some Juke Joint in Mississippi.

I haven't seen artimus in a long time, the last time there was a house band in Floyd VA, and they let him play, and we did some songs together, and jams. I told him about playing on stage with leon Russell before, and his friends from ARS in Atlanta. So he knew i could hang with him, was a cool guy, i think he said he was visiting family from Floyd, i had no idea he was from my area

Scott, thanks for this video here, A Great Job, I believe that Ronnie was singing the Ole Skynyrd song, ""Need All My Friends'', A Few days ago, Well All His Friends are there now, I Believe that Ronnie Wrote a New song the other day, Called, " Heaven Has All My Friends'', R.I.P. To Gary, He Was Prince Charming, Cousin Figel

Yes! Thank you! I was just scanning all your vids again the other day looking to see if you covered this. Steve was just an absolute monster, even long before Skynyrd where he was doing this type of playing and songs that appeared on Street Survivors. . One can only fathom how great he and the original band would have become in the following decades. Thanks again for this.

I've heard that... Ronnie considered the bands style as, "Blues Boogie Music" instead of "Southern Rock"... They're from the, South(Florida). "Southern Blues Boogie!" Is fine enough for me!!! I've been told a story about them in, Radford,Va. (My home State.) They were at the "Silver Spur" (Biker bar)on the outskirts of Radford going to Christiansburg. It made me love them even more than ever... Let's say this... It doesn't matter what race/color you are!!! If you are a "Skynyrd!" Fan, Your welcome to hang with them!!! I know the motel, (Tyler's Inn). 6 rooms, 5 of them could take a shower!!! Cause it was full of beer and liquor!!! This music, Has given me so much joy! Just don't like people using it just for one race, Everyone loves it!!! 🇺🇸🎵🎶🎸🎶🎵🇺🇸

@OldGuitarMan Жыл бұрын
Great stuff, Mr. Raines. I used to think those first few notes in the intro were all picked - that this was a kind of country-southern rock Yngwie workout - as opposed to the slide. I also thought the lead player was hitting the two supporting chords between each run, which can get a guy all tangled up and out of position, heh. You sound so perfect, both in style and tone. Even legends such as Ed King and Hughie Thomasson didn't play Steve's lines on the "I Know a Little" intro as exactly and clearly as you did, although that may have been those guys putting their own personal touches on it rather than a technique thing. I'm not sure what your age is, Scott, but I'm 54 and your tutorials are more than just tutorials. They help immortalize the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd and other bands you've covered here, like Blackfoot, by keeping guitarists of all ages playing their songs. It keeps the music they wrote a living, breathing thing, as opposed to just a museum piece. These videos are important work, as few people left alive on this planet have the insight into playing these songs the way you do. Thank you for continuing.

@@seraines Hey, you're doing The Big Man's work here. You're personally responsible for me learning and recording this cover of Diary of a Working Man: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGGQkH-Nq5yLgtk And the more of us out here who can keep this music alive - inspired and influenced by people like you - the more we can immortalize it by spreading it to future generations. You don’t sound like him with either axe dude.. He’s played that song on a Strat before in his other band. It wouldn’t have mattered because he’d sound bad ass with either guitar.. also that strat of Steve’s like all Lynyrd Skynyrds equipment was an object of theft, thats why Workin for the MCA was written, and that’s when Steve grabbed the black Les Paul… 😂
