I'll hope you are in good shape Tim..thank you for these lesson .we all still leanrnig ,a good walk around ,reading youre insruments and watch the behaving of the airplane for at least a good take off ...safe landings !!

Hoi Jelte! Ik ben er vrij zeker van dat ik deze landing zou hebben overleefd. Ik hoefde me tenminste geen zorgen te maken over een brand na een crash :) Ik hoop dat het goed gaat met jou en je familie! Met vriendelijke groeten van Tim

Wow, my second video watched of yours, and after the JFK junior video, I thought this was a recreation of an actual flight of yours lol. Was obvious that the turn coordinator ball was full right from the start.

for the record I have no clue about flying, had a simulator 2000 back in 2000 didn't play much, my question, in this case was it not better to ditch it in the water ?
@timgarris34064 жыл бұрын
Good question. Water ditchings are very risky even when you have good control of the aircraft. In this case I wasn’t able to level the wings for touchdown without the hard over rudder yawing the aircraft left. I tried to split the difference on the landing and it worked fine until I ran out of room and hit the water. Still a survivable outcome. If I touched down on water with a wing low it most likely would have cartwheeled the aircraft and knocked me unconscious. Cheers, Tim

I had this happen in real life. No way would I attempt a water landing with the airplane acting the way it did in real life. Your odds of drowning are extremely high due to what the plane is gonna do as you land. I would prefer to take my chances on land with the full crew on standby to get me out and get me to the hospital. My incident I was able to get the rudder back to center and landed without using the rudder. But if I had to land with it full over like it was a major airport with the experts that can get to you and know how to get you out and on the way to the hospital where you have a chance of living.

I wondered right away if you had flaps down, as you can't climb very well then!! I watched guys go into the trees on flight Sims, as left down and couldn't clear trees!! had a lot of fun with it!! Also screamed Gear is down!!!! to no avail!!!

I know the cockpit view for this in real life. One hell of an experience.

Yikes! You recovered from that scary takeoff like a real pro. I've watched recreations of similar bad starts and they didn't end well. This might be the only one I've seen that didn't end badly. The pilot(s) suddenly caught off guard when the plane tries to kill them, then they start panicking instead of staying calm, thinking fast and getting the aircraft under control. Unfortunately, there isn't time to lose your head when you only have a few seconds to avoid crashing. What would cause something like this to happen? Edit: it did end badly, oops. The landing, anyway. I have this bad habit of commenting before watching an entire video. I need to work on that. But still, the takeoff recovery was impressive!
@FSMaNiA2 жыл бұрын
The best chance of surviving any aviation mishap is to fly the aircraft all the way to the ground. In other words, don’t stall and hit the ground out of control. In this case I think I would have had a chance at the end to escape the cockpit and swim to safety albeit sketchy conditions.

Still wondering what caused the original rudder hard-over left. Great video however!
@FSMaNiA4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Glen! I'm really not sure what caused that rudder to get stuck. I had no problem maintaining centerline with the steerable nose wheel so it was something related to only the rudder function. Maybe some anomaly with the JustFlight model. I do think it was tied to whatever caused the elevator trim to be in the full nose down position. I'm sort of glad it happened because it presented me with a challenge to see if I could keep from dying. Cheers, Tim

I really have no idea. If been flying the Turbo Arrow IV a lot lately and have not had any issues. Maybe some anomaly with the JustFlight model. All these KZbin videos of the new sim......totally wondering what might be your first adventure (besides the obvious regional) Pacific Northwest?? Hoquiam?
@FSMaNiA4 жыл бұрын
To be sure I have been working diligently preparing for release day. I have a major case of flight simulator envy watching all of the Beta tester videos that are flooding KZbin. Meanwhile I have been training in the X-Plane Hot Start TBM 900 on almost a daily basis. I hope to get one more X-Plane video published featuring the 900 before I move into MSFS. Right now it make sense for me to begin MSFS flying their default TBM 930. It will be a good opportunity to compare the two simulators in similar conditions. I'm not sure what direction to fly the new MSFS because it looks spectacular everywhere. So many destinations and aircraft to fly... fortunately there is a Pandemic and a need to stay home :) Stay tuned and cheers, Tim
