I did an observership in a US Hospital and noticed that doctors in the US see about a quarter of the patients that doctors see in Ghana in a day. Those who are not in well resourced facilities can even see up to 10x the number of patients that doctors abroad see. We need more health staff to improve the health system. My dad was lying there not really talking and whenever the doctors walk in, they ask the family to go out so that they visit with the patient that at the point does not really know what's going on. I am an advanced nurse practitioner in Oklahoma state and do appreciate what you're doing. I pray that whatever you're doing will go far. honestly, that woman seemed sick. you should have definitely kept your mask on in her house.
@Caribbeanprincess1

Listen, you people like to over hype and jump on bandwagons. People have been exposed to sick people gathered in ER and all sorts of things with NO MASK for centuries, no one is dying in the manner you are implying. Yes, it can be considered courtesy, but keeping a mask on CAN collapse a persons lungs. NONE OF YOU WEIRDOs ever speak on that.
@orangemoonglows2692
@orangemoonglows2692 3 жыл бұрын
@@Caribbeanprincess1 mask-wearing does not collapse lungs and throughout history, people have worn masks to prevent transmission of communicable disease. i'm not going to respond again to your stupid drivel.
@Caribbeanprincess1
@Caribbeanprincess1 3 жыл бұрын
@@orangemoonglows2692 OK MORON!! I mean "moon glows" lol...fyi Throughout history persons have NEVER been commissioned to wear mask for MANY hours at a time, until now. Even in surgery, doctors have a system in place, so they can BREATHE. Before you hop on here talking trash, you should EDUCATE yourself. From the looks of things, learning is not your strongest point. Long-term wearing of mask causes respiratory problems and can lead to lungs collapsing. A jogger learned that the hard way not long ago. As for you, there is no need to continue this conversation. I only prolong arguments with INTELLIGENT people,...and in these times, that's FAR and FEW.

Very good iniatiative...sometimes its not a matter of comparing western world to Africa or Ghana but Most of the Dr's do not say a word to the patients or their relatives...i remember our family engaging in serious arguement with some Dr's at Komfo Anokye Hospital when my Mum was admited there because we knew what was suppose to be done and again the "The Bigmen" stepping made the it easier.. so if u dont know any bigman or you dont have money in your family..then forget it...I know its not easy but we can do better..

This is incredible and reassuring for people in the diaspora especially now that the incidence of lives being lost for relatively 'minor' complaints with to redress or accountability from the main services. Well done. We're moving forward.

I’m glad this physician is practicing this. I will love to find more about his practice and possibly volunteer whenever I get to Ghana. Ghana is really behind on collaborative patient care . They biggest gap is also working on customer service. Some Healthcare professionals in Ghana are missing the professional / empathetic part of their career. It’s all stems from the education and understanding that we are here to serve the patients .
