The number one policy America has run for decades is one of complete superiority against all potential competitors. After the world was destroyed after WW2, that was pretty easy. America continued to destroy and destabilize countries to isolate the Soviet Union and cause it to collapse. Since then there was only China who gave American business s cheap labor and consumers cheap goods. However, in a world where you suppress all competition, your own companies and processes get fat and inefficient. Our companies focus only on maximizing profits at the expense of quality and labor. American products have fallen far from where they were in the 90s. Meanwhile the world has caught up and can produce things better, faster and cheaper than the US. So instead of forcing US companies to compete, the US uses sanctions and tariffs to keep American companies competitive. Now it’s US companies that need to catch up, but they are slow, fat and greedy. This is why we are failing everywhere and why China is taking over the global markets.

The Roman Empire used its military prowess to conquer a large part of the world. It was mostly very successful. But Behind the Roman Empire, there are more substance than just brute force. It brought with it technologies, innovations, culture, etc. Its presence still leave a significant impression on the modern day Europe. The US dominates militarily. But sadly for the country, its efforts didn't actually yield many fruits. It wanted to take over from France after it withdrew from Vietnam. It ended with a chaotic retreat. It tried to dominate the Middle East, and ran away empty handed. It was the same in Afghanistan. Now Ukraine is a developing military failure for the US. The Roman empire is now history, I wonder if the US register a significant chapter in history except the disruptions it created for the world. Right now, it is desperately attempting to hold onto the economic dominance, but US politicians lack visions. They prefer to live in the "golden days of America"...1970's when it sold cars before they were built ! Pop songs were composed around the car industry. Now it finds itself fighting China's affordable EV. Protecting jobs is fine, but without a long term policy for the industry, and tariffs is the only "non policy" they can conjure up, that clearly depict a Washington devoid of long term plans.
