to clarify why they rise in the wii version but not any others, when the n64 has to round a number, it rounds to the nearest, so when it rounds the position of those platforms as they bob up and down, it gets rounded up just as often as it gets rounded down, so no overall movement, whereas the wii will round a number towards zero, causing it to slowly approach the y position zero, which is higher than where the platform starts. once it reaches 0 it wont be able to go higher since the rounding will start pushing it down.
@skillaxxx2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, every system since the 70s supported rounding and flooring (and mostly ceiling), it's just an implementation choice. And tbh it a really sounds a really weird emulation change/choice, as round(x) is usually implemented as floor(x+0.5), so it's probably a FP rounding issue instead ...

Crash was incidental and a product of your box giving up. Eventually the platforms reach the y=0 coordinate and just stay there until you enter the bowser fight, because that's how the glitch is happening: the WiiVC version's rounding mode for the platforms' y position is rounding "towards 0" instead of "towards nearest float value" like every other release

Nintendo dev: there's a slight issue. Some platforms might levitate indefinitely if game run for more than a day continuously. Nintendo Publisher: no one is gonna run this game that long. Nathaniel:
@pleasedontwatchthese95933 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not there are a lot of games that have bugs when it comes to dealing with time. Devs often do know about some of them but don't do much about them because there is a 1000 more important bugs to fix. 49.71... (lets say 50) days is a common bug in games because thats 2^32 milliseconds which is a common timer value. Also some games use floats for timers (like Unity time system) and they start to slowly loose accuracy, but on there it could be up to 100 days before you notice anything.

Him clipping through the platform isn't about the bottom having no collisions. - doing that would be unoptimized and could potentially bring about other issues in regards to the player's collision box and its physics interactions. - First of all, to say the "Bottom" didn't have collisions that would require having that specific game object being built with numerous collision boxes, which is never the case, if that were the case then much larger bugs would arise than simply clipping through the bottom. If the bottom didn't have collisions then it would simply clip through it instead of pushing the character to the proper side. The ground has a marker so the physics check knows the player is on the ground, the act of him being pushed to the other side is caused by the "Ground Check" function they made in the collision box's physics checks. As soon as the character comes into contact with the ground it places him automatically on the platform, that's why it looks like he is replaced there within 1 frame instead of merely clipping through the bottom as a Ghost would. this is typically in play because of the jump system working together with the gravity implementation to prevent any buggy instances in jumping. :D the more you know. Now this isn't guaranteed to be the reason of course, as I have not made this game, but I have remade it several times through the help of deconstructing a crack version, this is merely my insight through my 11 years of programming experience

This was a nice quick video! Never heard of this glitch until this point. I just always assumed this version was just an emulator of the original with no changes made besides allowing it work with the wii system and controllers!

I think you mean "until" not "so." Because saving up allowance has nothing to do with leaving your PlayStation running unless you can somehow generate money by leaving it on. In essence, learn English. That is all

How about Nandy does a timelapse of that so we can see the platform rising slowly?
@fluffyfre3 жыл бұрын
I’m 99.999% that the glitch happens due to a missing animation frame from the platform. It seems like the platform is moving up and down but due to a frame missing the platform is slowly rising.
@Voidling2423 жыл бұрын
It actually has to do with the way the Wii handles rounding. (this isn't twilight princess)
@walugusgrudenburg30683 жыл бұрын
Not quite. While it's not a bad guess, it's actually due to rounding errors. For some reason the Wii rounds differently than Wii U or N64, causing the platforms to slowly rise.
