When I was five, I wanted to run away from home. My sister, who was 8, thought it was a great idea. She made me a bag lunch, cut down a shower curtain for me to use as a tent, packed my backpack, gave me the dog on a leash, and sent me off on my bicycle for the rest of my life. I stayed in the big park in Milwaukee that runs along Lake Michigan, for the whole day with my dog, a big, furry Norwegian Elkhound. Lots of families were having picnics and they gave us food. Eventually my parents got worried and they sent the police out looking for me. They brought me home that afternoon. I think my sister thought it was very funny but I also think she got in trouble.

All is safe and sound with young Nanook. Mistakes are made from time to time. At least he was not hurt, thank goodness!!! Do not be too hard on yourself, Kirikou! They sell products now for parents to make sure they have dropped the baby off at daycare and haven't forgotten him in his carseat while they go shopping or in to work. I still believe that you are a wonderful big brother! If you weren't, this incident wouldn't bother you so much.

So something like this happens to alot of people or they wouldn’t have made a home alone movie. You are an amazing big brother. He won’t have bad memories because he has too many great memories already. He already looks up to you and that won’t fade, but now he needs a little brother for him to teach. ❤️ Kirikou ❤️ Nanook! I also love Nanook’s last video but the comments were turned off. Please bring your family to the United States. I think he would like Legoland in Florida!

Kirikou, and Nanook, please enjoy these times together. i wish there was a word for it, being truly present, 100% in the moment. but that’s what i’m saying, try to do that. you never get the day back. once it’s passed it’s gone. i am glad to hear that your family is physically so close and i am hopeful that they are wonderful people. It is wonderful to hear that this miscommunication ended positively. i think that the way you show concern for your brothers memories is very special. (i think it should be ordinary, but it’s special. it really is. to be able to think of someone else is special. to care analyst what his thoughts are and what his life looking back on it would be. that’s so kind of you. it’s very heartwarming to see that kind of character in a person these days. i do wonder how long you will make these. will there be a kirikou and nanook welcome Kirikous’ children? nanook becomes an uncle? i wonder. maybe your schooling being a gap year gives you time to focus on what your heart wants, and time to focus on family, your brother, mom and dad, uncles, grand parents, those who you love. time is so precious. know that you bring happiness into cloudy days. you show great character. and nanook has a great example for following by

It's like when my bro forgot he had left me inside our new TV's box... UPSIDE DOWN! He left me there for like 10 minutes and went to my grandma's (who also lives next to our parents' house), and stayed there because he was invited to eat... I think I was lucky my father arrived home from work after those 10 minutes. Fortunately I could roll a little and kept on calling him, thinking he was joking (but he was eating a bread and drinking some warm chocolate). But dad "saved" me. I was 6. That was 23 years ago and I still remember it. I'm always watching your videos. They give me such a joy these days. Greetings from Mexico 😊

What a smart boy Nanook was to go to his grandpa's house! And... ..thank goodness all's well that ends well. I can only imagine your sinking feeling when you realized what had happened! Good for you for sharing a reality of imperfection and mistakes that happen more often than many would admit. And that it is important to talk about it and make it into the narrative of your family and his life. I still think you are both very good brothers...

My brothers! This has happened to me too! My three younger sisters woke up to find that I had gone to Girl Scouts and left them at home ages 5, 5 and 7! Yes, I overlooked a set of twins and their older sister because they were sleeping! My dad was at work and my mom had gone shopping with her mum! Suffice it to say, my sisters kept calm, watched cartoons the whole time and ate a one kilo box of Honey Nut Cheerios with a gallon of milk (almost four liters)! I got home to find them in their pajamas at 15:00 in the afternoon! I got them dressed, hair combed and teeth brushed as my mum and dad came home at 17:30 to find dinner (it was 1980 and I was expected to cook and watch my sisters) on the table and the house cleaned up! We didn't say anything about being left home alone, but my mum was upset that we ate up all the cereal! It wasn't until weeks later that my Scout mistress told my mother how happy she was to have me on the outing that my mum realized I wasn't home! The guilty party was my dad who didn't leave a note to say he had been called in on a Saturday to go to work! My mum was furious, but my sisters and I played it off by acting all innocent saying we thought dad was at home in the bed! I was 16 and didn't think how stupid the alibi was when dad came in at the same time as mum, but hey, I wasn't the one who messed up! I refused to take the fall for my dad! My mum was still upset about the Cheerios and took it out of our weekly allowance! Today, we laugh about it and my sisters really had fun at home! They told me they locked all the doors and let our dog in to be safe! We are all mad about the allowance! I asked my sisters why they ate a kilo of Cheerios and they said it was on their bucket list of naughty things to do since our mum only allowed us a bowl a day!

Kirikou, you're an interesting personality, a facet of that being your apparent need here for public confession. Perhaps you're a future writer, film maker, artist? (Or, maybe you just ran out of ideas for a video, which might be the same thing as being "a future writer, film maker, artist".) Nanook doesn't appear to be too traumatized by the "incident", though.

Moro! Oon sua muutaman vuoden vanhempi, ja ihmettelen valtavasti sitä, että olet enemmän mies kuin minä, jos mennään "manners make the man" linjalla. Jos kaikki muutkin nuoret olisivat yhtä sivistyneitä, olisi minulla edes jonkinnäköinen luotto tulevaisuuteen. Ja on hieno nähdä Nanookin kasvavan tällaisessa ympäristössä, jossa hän oppii erittäin tärkeitä asioita jo nuoresta alkaen. Jatka samaan malliin, voisin jopa sanoa olevani todella ylpeä sinusta ja Nanookista!
