When I was in the Air Force we flew Bob Hope onto our base for a honor dinner. When he got off the plane he talked to the 4 of us for around 30 minutes. He asked where we were all from and he had a story about every town we were from. He told us several off color jokes. His handler was rushing him and he set him straight telling him These are my boys. He went to the dinner and when he came back to fly home he talked to us for another 30 minutes. The plane took off and we all looked at each other and no one even thought to ask for an autograph.

I had another encounter at a deli in Malibu in 2011. Family reunion so all 10 of us at the long picnic table outside. I was the last to sit and there was a guy sitting at a table with 2 others right practically next to me. My cousin whispered to me the guy was Ed Harris. I remembered that Malibu was where celebrities relax away from fans. So did not bother him. But he was sitting so close I could have touched his arm when he stretched his arms back. When he and his friends left, he took off In his black pickup and waved at me. I think he was glad we did not bother him.

I worked for Al's booking agency when his folks died of CO poisoning. He wrote us all a beautiful note thanking us for our condolences and imploring us to all buy CO detectors and explaining how this $25 device might have saved his parents. From that moment on, I knew he was a great dude.

Had a celebrity brush with the guy who played Robin in the 60s series _Batman,_ Burt Ward. We were at the local Montgomery Ward (remember those?) and he was signing autographed pictures. I had watched the show in reruns so hit mom up to go see him. We walked thru the maze they had setup at the back of the store and there he was in full Robin regalia, with a total 5 o'clock shadow, chatting up one of the females clerks...big time. When this little dude walked up to him he signed and shoved the photo over to me and grunted " that'll be a dollar"...lol. I sheepishly looked at mom and she gave me the dollar - to this day wish we'd just left it on the table and walked out...lol.

Funny you mention Reggie Jackson, Jordan. I went to a sold out concert last month here in Las Vegas at The Smith Center to see Gladys Knight. Sat in the second row. I was surprised when the show started the seat directly next to me was the only one vacant in the entire venue. Turns out the guy seated on the other side of this unoccupied seat was Reggie Jackson. He never looked to the side nor around. Despite recognizing him, I left him alone as it was obvious he had purchased the extra seat to avoid having anyone sit next to him nor have to interact with anyone! A female friend was next to him on the other side.

best interaction i had wasn't with an actor but a singer, Gene Watson. A country singer brom the 70s and 80s. My dad was a big fan of his and for his birthday i wanted to gethim an autograph. I called his fan club and they said yeah they'll get him to signa picture for me. the next day i get a call and the pperson on the other end says "This is Gene watson, whatwould you like me to write?" I was floored, i probaly sounded like a feel, not knowing what to say to him, but he was super nice

Great video Jordan! I have one to tell you. Last summer I was in the town of Woodstock, NY and I saw Arlo Guthrie and his wife walking out of a pizza shop. I said hello and he put his head down. I should have just let it go right there, but I put my hand out to shake his hand and his wife slapped my hand hard and said " WE DON'T SHAKE HANDS WITH PEOPLE!" I was like what the hell?! I just walked away. But I have met many 80's rock bands and they were all super cool.

My mother met him in an elevator in Newport and said he was very friendly also, but my mother knew who he was right away…I also think maybe because Jordan didn’t recognize him at first, he didn’t react well. Maybe he has some kind of complex about not looking the same as he did when he was younger and isn’t as easily recognizable.

Hi Jordan, Another great vlog. Your stories of stand in work brought back some good memories. One of the films I worked on was Sean Penn's (et al) "I am Sam." 1. While she was working on set, I was Diane Wiest's driver. An absolutely wonderful lady!....I also drove the director for awhile, was on a truck and did van shuttles (I was low guy on the totem pole and got bounced around as needed). 2. One day while filming on stage, I was outside and got into a conversation with Sean's then young son...During a set up change, Sean came outside and saw us and wanted to know (as a father should) what was going on...I informed Sean that his son had been telling me stories about school....Sean said he hoped his son hadn't been bothering me. I said not at all, he's a delightful boy...A few seconds passed and Sean asked, are you sure he's....?...I could tell by the look on his face that Sean thought I was just doing it because he was the star...I nicely interrupted and said, I didn't do it for or because of you. I don't like cutting kids off or curbing their enthusiasm....In response, Sean smiled, shook my hand and thanked me. There were also a handful of times when Sean and Diane were on set together and during set up changes and a set wraps Sean jumped in the car with Diane and me....Great conversations/ interactions ensued. 3. Dakota Fanning, if memory serves, had four or five different stand ins. Virtually every shot of Dakota's character from behind is one of these other little girls....For the uninitiated, a child's time on set is extraordinarily limited. This is especially true for very young children. Hence the need for many. One of Dakota's stand ins was this very delightful and outgoing girl named Meagan...Early on in the shoot, I met Meagan and her mom. Both of them were wonderful to talk to and I spent a great deal of time with them between my duties. One evening we shot late and Meagan was working (Not late late but a bit past a seven year olds bed time). At wrap, Meagan could barely keep her little eyes open...To help her mom for a somewhat long walk back to her car, I picked Meagan up...Upon doing so, Meagan sleepily said I love you, kissed me on the cheek then promptly fell asleep. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the following day was St. Patrick's day...I had been busy most of the day and didn't run into Meagan's mom till very late in the afternoon....When I bumped into her (Meagan was working at the time), Meagan's mom told me, I wasn't supposed to say anything but Meagan has something for you. As it turned out, precious little Meagan had insisted that her mom get some supplies in which to make me a handmade St. Patrick's day card. The card was nicely done...When I told Meagan how much I liked the card and how much I appreciated it, she shot me a huge smile and gave me a tight hug....Both were absolutely priceless!!!!

That's good to hear. I always found Tommy to be really angry and pissed off every time I met him, unless a child was around. He would clean it up for them, but in his older years I saw several mean and rude interactions out of him

I’m surprised! I met him in the early 80s, right after the Dodgers had won the World Series. Maybe he was just in a good mood!

Your facial expressions and timing during the Reggie Jackson story had me laughing out loud. You'd probably have been a good silent movie actor.

I lived in Oakland. Reggie's always had a horrible reputation. Horrible to fans or anyone who acknowledged him. He often replied with a middle finger. Didn't make exceptions for children or anybody.

I crossed paths with Reggie Jackson by chance when I was 15. It was at a Yankees/Red Sox pre-season exhibition game in New Orleans. I was stunned for a moment that I discovered myself standing next to Mr. October. I had a baseball and pen and meekly asked for his autograph. He just kind of smirked, said “Hell, no!” and walked off. Kind of hurt my feelings at the time but then just decided he was a douche nozzle and blew it off. I’ve had the chance to meet many other baseball HOFers since then who are much more pleasant people.
