Im a Christian and this thought process never makes sense to me because the whole point theyre trying to make is "don't wear certain clothes because you don't wanna temp men with your immodesty, and you don't want to be dressing for men" BUT in making your whole outfit based off of not tempting men is STILL dressing for men

I'll always remember the words of my Anthropologist Professor, "A culture is allowed to take pride in itself, but when a culture starts to believe it is better than all other cultures, that is when you start to have a problem." If you replace "culture" with "religion" (which in itself is sort of a subculture) it rings just as true.
@avampiresrighteyebrow76434 жыл бұрын
fun fact! the "thou shalt not use the Lord's name in vain" thing is actually referring mostly to using religion to shame and oppress other people! saying "oh my god" wasn't really a thing way back when, so they didn't need a rule against it. another fun fact for you! my man Jesus wasn't white, and he drank his respect women juice. God is neither male nor female, meaning they can be (and have been) referred to as either, both, and neither. the bible as be know it is a stockpile of stories passed down through the generations like a game of telephone, changed to be how the people translating, editing, and printing it want it to be. that's why there's so many different versions! and most importantly, what is the biggest rule of them all? love your neighbors as god loves you, and love your god above all else. and who are your neighbors? everyone, right? no matter who they love, what color their skin is, or what's in their pants? I don't think bigotry is very loving of thy neighbors, do you? in short: take everything you hear with a grain of salt. that includes what comes out of your preacher's mouth. god loves EVERYONE. and that does mean EVERYONE, not just men, or straights, or whites.

I am really ashamed of how they show christianity to the world. In no word God tells us in the bible how we shall dress... In some kind of way it complains Him by thinking he would only care about unnecessary stuff like clothing. As a christian girl, grown up with a hippie dad I was raised totally free. My parents are currently in some kind of fight with my our church leaders, because they have books from Girls Defined in our bookshop. Wish us success and thanks for the vid:))
@fionakeziah99924 жыл бұрын
Rebecca A. I have read the whole bible and nobody is telling me I have to do it like Girls Defined think it should be. I know that God gives women the advice not to lay their worth on their clothes or jewelry but rather on their character, but I don’t think women need to cover all their natural body parts which could be attracting a man. I think it is the same mindset which shames women for getting raped because they wore too sexy clothing. It’s a drastic example but think about it. It doesn’t mean we need to wear hot pants but it shall mean, that if men are immediately attracted if they just get a look at a part of our décolleté, maybe they should ask themself what they do wrong. Blessings from a non-English speaking country, so please excuse my language:))

Actually in Leviticus it says that wearing 2 pieces of clothing with different fabrics is a sin, and i dont see these girls following that rule... I am a Christian but i dont agree with these girls whatsoever and my parents have always been pretty free in letting me express myself through my clothing. like she said in the video, it is absolutely fine to dress modestly and totally your choice, but forcing it on others and looking down on others who dont do the same as you is actually against god’s laws. Oh man I used to dress like that in high school, except I wasn’t trying to be religiously modest - I just hated my body 😖

I know I'm commenting on this video way late, but back when I was growing up fundamentalist / quiverfull up until about 2 years ago, I was so uncomfortable with myself and convinced myself I couldn't wear any clothing that's wasn't long sleeve shirts and pants 24/7. I hated my body for being fat, being trans, and being afab. quarentine as well as getting away from girl defined type creators has really helped me not be as ashamed of myself

God jeans under dresses/skirts were like a THING in the 2000s. I remember being 8 and trying so hard to pull my skirt over my jeans lmfaooo. But this just shows how behind they are in terms of fashion that they’re still following horrifying 2000s fashion trends

The way you were so sarcastically on-board for the first outfits and by the next day/video you were so mad about that outfit 😅😂

Wait if sin is the reason why we wear clothes, why are people, especially women, shamed and called sinful for wearing revealing clothes. Shouldn't it be the opposite?

unpopular opinion i kinda liked the black longsleeve under the purple dress with the black boots. i love wearing long sleeves under summery dresses in fall with my combat boots

let me be clear: you can dress however you want. do what makes you happy. I am definitely more religious than the average person, and i personally dress more modestly but there is so much cute, trendy, “aesthetic” modest clothing, they have no excuse to look like THAT. like you are not a kindergarten teacher. please grow up. if you really “love god” you would know he loves all people no matter what they wear, love, or look like on the surface. it’s so stupidly hypocritical to shame others using the excuse of “god.”

After the entire video being a passive aggressive "let's give them a chance!" tone, the "are you fucking kidding me" at 13:52 was just gold.

I hate when they act like they aren’t a part of “the culture”. Religion is a part of culture, so are values and language etc.
