Mungo Jerry are a British rock band from the 70's. "In The Summertime" was their biggest hit. I remember this fun catchy tune & it brings back good memories. They had some other songs mostly popular in the UK such as "Baby Jump", "Lady Rose", "Alright, Alright, Alright", "You Don't Have To Be In The Army To Fight In The War" etc.

I LOVE THIS SONG!! I LOVE THIS SONG!! Since this tune came out in 1970 and I was 13, this was a favorite. Although back then I sure never saw the video, and usually only heard it on my transistor radio. So for 53 years I've been digging this. Wow.

I remember this song from my childhood. Back in those days there weren’t a million stations or downloads or streaming. We all seemed to listen to the same few AM stations at home or in the car and everybody knew about the same songs. It was great you were really up on things. I listened to an old AM station called KFRC out of San Francisco and they had rock ‘n’ roll, as well as R & B.

Being a British group there are a few terms Americans miss. The biggest one is "...when the sun goes down you can make it in a Layby..." A Layby is a British term for a highway pull out or rest stop.

I'm so happy this was in my sonic landscape throwing up. I don't really know a whole lot else by them, but this is a classic for sure. I don't want to go off and search your channel in the middle of this comment so I don't know if you've already done this, but for some reason in my head, I also pair that with an absolutely stupendous song called Lowrider, by the band War. And Ilthey had other hits as well, like, Why Can't We Be Friends. But if you haven't reacted to that, not only do lots of people love it, it really was just kind of a groundbreaking song at the time, and it's about the Hispanic Lowrider culture in LA. It's got a lot of hidden meanings in it about that culture, but it also is just such an incredible vibe. It is so cool. This is why out became a big hit. Plus there was quite a long time and really today with anybody older, if you're ever on a dance floor or in some place where somebody puts it on the jukebox and people can kind of dance around, like in a pool hall or something, this always gets to people.
