WOAH! Talk about a wild ride! I literally BLEW the doors off the 55... plus a lot of other pieces 😅 On the bright side, we figured a lot out in testing. And I feel good about the car as we go into Peak NHRA in Chicago at Route 66 Raceway. But, we do have a LOT of work to do now to get it ready. Enjoy the carnage! Hopefully we don't do this one again. lol Plus! Our Austrian friends made passes for the first time!

When you have it back together, I can't help thinking that maybe a trip to a wind tunnel might be a great step. It's never going to be 'aerodynamic' as such, but there may be things you can do with little laminar lips & subtle spoilers you can add to make huge differences to drag at high speeds... & also you might be amazed at the direction & location of aerodynamic pressures & forces when the speed gets way up there. No point beefing something up to stop it getting pushed in or sucked out, if in reality it's the opposite happening...

It could have been so much worse, thankfully you've got lots of seat time in that car and was able to stay calm and shut it down safely. It's a reminder to NEVER be complacent when it comes to racing, at any level, ya just never know what can happen. As much as I like the clean look with no windshield brace it's looking like it might not be a bad idea now that we've seen what pushing the windshield in can do at 210+mph. Anyway, good luck getting the 55 back together and stay safe in the future.

Alex, I hate to say it by having rubbered in glass you'll get that window blowing out all the time or get the screen shaped/ moulded with a good outer curve in it as the stop it blowing and doing what it did. We used to make windscreen glass moulds with a good 8mm/5/16 of outer curve in it as at 100klm/h the glass would flatten out. That's with a normal thickness windscreen thickness not the plastic type thickness. I think you'll have to look at either bolting in the windscreen or installing some window deflection bars to stop the screens flattening in under wind force. Then you'll keep the doors on the lady. Just a bit of FYI. Anyway onwards and upwards, 250mph, here you come!!!!!

I won''t recommend duct tape or JB Weld. But I will relate a story about a guy named Tony Levier who was a Test Pilot, Aeronautical Engineer and raced airplanes at way faster than 212 mph. He arrived at the first Reno Air Race in the '60s with a P-38 Lightening. The first thing he did was hand a bucket of money to his crew and told them to go into town and buy up ALL of the Scotch Tape in the town. When they came back, they spent many hours taping over EVERY seam and panel line on the twin engine airplane to get every mile per hour with the least drag possible. The 55 has MANY places where air can get under a seam or panel or bulging chrome and at 212mph, the force is working against you! We don't want to see another R.U.D. (Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly - Elon). Scotch Tape is your friend. 🤣
