AN ECCENTRIC Frenchman lives with SEVEN lions and tigers right outside his front door - and he looks after them on his own. For the last 27 years, 68-year-old Remy Demantes has owned a private rescue sanctuary for big cats, taking care of the injured animals and treating them as pets. Residing in Ouzouer-sur-Loire, France, Remy fell in love with exotics in 1986 when he saw the close bond his friend had with his domesticated panther - inspired by their relationship, Remy decided to build upon his current property and make sure his home was at the centre of his animals. Fast-forward to 2018 and Remy could not imagine life without his beloved pets, spending hours each day hand-feeding them, taking them for walks and generally kissing and cuddling their furry coats.

that's really irresponsible of him that no one else helps him. the animals aren't socialized with other people, and he obviously isn't going to be around forever. what if he's hospitalized for an illness, or worse? whose going to take care of the animals? the fact that the lions live alone and not in groups is really sad. these cages are so, so small for them. the animals are pacing back and forth. also, i would not call this them "accepting" him. they're tolerating him, and if that. even though i hate seeing people like this, who use animals for their own stupid adrenaline rushes, i do love this channel and all that it uploads. thanks for posting.

I do agree that he should have someone who he can pass this legacy unto however i don't think the sole purpose of him having these animals is for his own self interest/pleasure. Most individuals who have endangered big cats, bears, wolves, etc. have them and support them with the goal of them being able to have offspring of their own. These animals are safer in captivity where they have the opportunity to mate, eat, and live without the dangers of poachers and habitat loss. Its sad that these beautiful creatures aren't free to safely roam in their natural habitat anymore but i firmly believe that they are better off with him than in the wild.

This is a very stark contrast to The Lion Whisperer, who not only has an actual full sanctuary (in Africa) for the lions to roam around in, those that he raised trust him completely, and he also does not have the cynicism this guy has around them. Might help that TLW also has a degree in zoology though. He even fully acknowledges too that one day there might be an accident, but they hasn't been one yet, and he's not going to live life around them worrying about it.

Unfortunately for this old French man, he has to carry a stick, showing fear to the wild exotic life. They had picked on that, it is obvious that they don't have respect for the old man. They will not hurt him but they will not repect him. For him, all of it started wrong in the cubhood stage with regard to respect, communication (listening to their body language to respect boundaries ), trust (he monumentally failed there, he does not trust them and that is where the fear came into existence ), attention, affection, love, taking care of (feeding, cleaning after them and grooming ), playing (keeping them from boredom, he also failed there ), friendship (he also failed there, lack of trust, carrying a stick, showing fear ), companionship (also failed there, he fills up the need of feeding but he does not fill up the spiritual, emotional and grooming need of a soul made ), bonding as a family member (if he failed in every thing else, except in feeding and cleaning, he also failed in bonding as a family member. He does not have a family bond with them, carrying a stick and showing fear ). Since human bonding with the wild killing instinct predators is 90% about respect, communication, attention, trust, love, affection, friendship and companionship to bond as a family member which over write the killer instinct gene in these predators, fully allowing the bonding between the human specie and the wild exotic killing instinct predator specie. But he royally failed to do so and that killer gene has not been over written on those tigers and that lion. The killer gene is still active. Therefore these animals posses a danger to him when being around them. Needless to say that this is a relationship based on feeding and cleaning after the wild exotic killing instinct predators. AMEN! You are very wise. My compliments to your respect and understanding of the wonder of animals. I wish all humans could understand. Respect is earned and it begins by respecting the one you want respect from first. I know animals. You are either a friend, a foe, a meal or in social animals, a leader/ parent. Animals are so very honest. Thank you for beautifully expressing that truth. Your comment made my day. You ROCK!

TBF Kevin Richardson is sort of kind of a special case....he is legit the only person I know of who has been able to become an actual member of his Lion pride and the Lions aren't even fully captive as some of the Lionesses even hunt when out and about on walks.

I think the world should have more people like you in it that protects these animals . Instead you have people hunting them for there fur or for a trophy it's very sad to see this happen ,since they are endangered . I have had past experiences with tigers and they are very pleasant to be around ,but you are right you should not trust them fully .I wish some day to own my own at least this way it would be protected and not hunted .😊😊David

As Pauline Vautour said Keeping three or four tigers in your house as pets is not saving wildlife. He's not doing anything for them. He's just satisfying his urge to pet tigers. If you wanna see someone doing something for wildlife watch this lady this channel recently posted who rescues animals and keeps them in a large enclosed santuary then sets them free.

@@paulinev1757 Bad vibe with this Frenchman's big cats. But the Lion Whisperer does it the RIGHT way. he's NEVER used a stick in over 20 years and has a giant space for his lions to roam, plus he provides companions around them in various groups. These lions and tigers would be better off in the wild if not for the wild to be shrinking and the cats going extinct because of man.

@@priscillaross-fox9407 theyre used to petting, which means they were pet as cubs, which is abuse. These animals are not pets, period. I get special exceptions like disabilities that would make them fail in the wild. The only reason these cats would fail in the wild is this guy raising them as pets

@@omariramsey1154 girl writes: I def hear that, although do u know the story of the two English students who bought a lion from Harrods in the 1960's and once it got grown they realised they wanted to get it home to the wild or as close to that with other lions? amazing story, they got a wildlife person to help them and the lion was flown I think it was to south Africa, they went to seed it dome years later and it came and embraced (in big cat way) the two students , sadly when they returned some years later they never saw the lion again , big game and cats etc hunting should be banned.

Nobody asked for your input. That’s actually not true. While I do agree that it is ok to keep animals in captivity, once you do, that is a lifelong commitment and you shouldn’t really release them into the wild. They are used to captivity.

I learnt highly important things from this brother . without passion , we cannot try this thing .we want guts to continue this passion . We must not trust these big cats hundred percentage . No holiday to ourselves 24x365 days . We must clearly understand the consequences to allow a new person in our big cat cage . We must understand big cats phychologhy and behaviours clearly . Only a practical way , we learn more about big cats . He pursue his lonely is an extraordinary thing . Hatts off brother . (Praveen from india )
