Think of it on a smaller scale. Whenever you see a friendly dog, tail wagging, mouth open, waggling, etc, you can tell they just want to play or want attention. However, if you see a dog in a low stance, growling or dead silent, while not taking their eyes off you, you get an uncomfortable feeling and know they may attack if you get too close or don't leave. All animals have body language cues like that, it's just a matter of knowing what they are.

It’s something we get asked a lot. Our animals are pretty used to the smells of other members of our fur family. They will always smell you down but it doesn’t really bother them as they’re still pretty happy to give some cuddles. 😊

I think Saffers have a deep connection with these wonderful big cats, we in the west don't get to experience the wonder of nature of these amazing creatures. God bless you all for your ability to bond with these creatures. Lions are amazing creatures with great memory for the people they grew up around. I wish that some day I'll go visit the land of my ancestors in south Africa.
