It is amazing how popular The Beatles still are. This tune nearly 60 years old.

I had a friend tell me back in the day that the new kids on the block were going to be the next Beatles... I told him we’d check in another 20.... well... we know how that went! 😂

It's a miracle, the way The Beatles came into existence. It's almost like the universe willed them into existence to make the world a better place.

A case could be made that Lennon’s early songs like I’ll be Back, No Reply,You Can’t Do That were just as creative as the heavier more popular ones like Lucy in the Sky, A Day in the Life, and Strawberry Fields.

always loved this chord progression! this is one of my favourite early Beatles songs. It just has such a different vibe than the rest of the stuff in that period

I think a lot of Beatle songs transcended the traditional pop song structure of 'Verse. Chorus, Verse Chorus, middle eight, chorus'...they always seemed to go for 'Hook, hook, middle hook, Hook, hook.
@jamesjames92753 жыл бұрын
Yesterday is a great example of a tune without a chorus, but you don’t really notice that it’s missing. Zeppelin only had a handful of songs with a chorus.
@thebouncinghearts3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesjames9275 Yes, as are 'Help' and 'Norwegian Wood'...all three of these songs have such strong melodies throughout that the whole song could be considered a chorus...Many Dylan songs follow the traditional folk story-telling structure of simply repeating many verses, but again, his melodies and delivery are always so strong and memorable...these guys make it seem so easy!

OK SO I'm feeling very smug. I play that fantastic song exactly the way you describe and have done for years. I was hoping you'd say the B7 chord because that's what it always sounded like to me. A great and overlooked Beatles song. Thanks for sharing 👍

Thanks mainly to George H. for integrating his cool "Beatle chords" in their songs. And don't forget what has become known to be the John Lennon D chord.

Wow!! Thanks JJ this is one of my favorite...(I have a lots of beatles favorites). Lots of major and minor chords alternating. Some people suggest that was inspired by Del Shannon?
@jamesjames92753 жыл бұрын
That chord progression is in a lot of pop songs, including Runaway.
@myguitardetective59613 жыл бұрын
@@jamesjames9275 John said he lifted the chords directly from Del Shannon's "Runaway"...and he clearly did. Listen to the opening chords in "Runaway" and they are same ones that open "I'll Be Back"..... the difference being that John greatly reduced the duration between the chord changes, altered the rhythm and composed a new melody line. This is one of my favorite Beatles songs....

Provided a magical finale to the album (at least the UK version) following some of the big hitters. The riff and strumming were covered between Harrison and Lennon, so ... err ... harder for the rest of us.
