I can't say enough about how helpful the Yarnsub website is for substituting yarns. It can really help with the yarn budget or for knitting down your stash. Thank you for doing something similar with your own patterns. That's really an extra, thoughtful touch on already really great patterns.

For yarn substitutions: I tried to post a link for a yarn substitution website but it doesn’t post so I’m guessing that’s prohibited? 🤷♀️ If you google yarn substitution there is a major website that will come up, usually first, that will give you alternatives and rate how closely they match your original with a number of data points (fiber content, yardage, weight, etc) and give you a percentage as to how closely it is.

I did the same thing. I tried to post the yarn sub website. I have used it a few times and It is pretty good. The only downside is that not all yarns are on their list.

Loved the second way you set up the bobbins (in threes). Crazy what a difference it made, so beautiful!

For choosing a size when upper bust is significantly smaller than bust (>5cm/2" difference), it can be worth choosing a size based more off the upper bust because it will fit your shoulders and frame better and you won't feel like you're 'swimming' in your sweaters so much. One Wild Designs have a blog post or two talking about this which you might find helpful.

I agree that picking out the right yarn for a sweater project can be hard. I find it helpful to look at Ravelry projects and see what others have used.

I personally would DEFINITELY want to do that second layout for ur HHF spin !!! Then the whole skein would kind of be one long gradient , and I LOVE IT when skeins look like that ! Cheers + I love ur moon mint !!!

Great information on the different yarns. I did not know about weights. I am knitting the weekender in Shelter and I believe it is going to be too warm. Also great info on ply’s. Thank you so much! I don’t know how to spin but your three color choices look amazing. You always know how to blend. ❤ Happy knitting and spinning!

I like the new sweater! I noticed it has the same basic shape as many of your other designs. That makes me wonder how and why you choose to design bottom-up garments. I do not understand the advantages and would love to hear a designer’s thoughts sometime.

I like the second layout for your ply, but I worry about ending up with that big dark band (spools 7-9?), and whether that will limit the usability of the final skein. But maybe it’s just an artifact from the quick video filming without optimal lighting. I might take out those dark spools, and then do a bit of reordering to fit them in again, and have a more level distribution of depth of shade along the whole skein. (Commenting a week late, who knows if you’ll see this!!)

Ii have yet to do a button band except for something I made for my granddaughter 15 years ago. I will tuck the ratio info and the yarn substitution ideas in my knitting log! Maybe the ratio is included in your patterns? Thank you for all your teaching and welcome to Michigan from another Michigander!

The person who has been gifted an unfinished project from a friend who passed - they can take a photo and use Google lens, or conduct google image reverse search - it may bring up a photo of the actual pattern which could help them track it down!

For the person who asked about yarn substitutions……I hear you. I’ve never knit one of Andrea’s patterns and am hesitant to do so because I feel the yarn I can afford won’t look as good and wouldn’t do the pattern justice. Farmers Daughter yarns are expensive and my guess is her collab includes either free or highly discounted yarn. She does include suggested yarn substitutes but none of them have been tested which is unfortunate because there’s still that “will I like it, did I pick the wrong yarn, did I waste my money feeling”.

I have found that knitting one size smaller than I would pick based on my measurements is working for me. No idea why. I have found swatching lies probably because the swatch is unable to match the weight of the finished sweater. I am not busty so maybe that's why it works.
