Another way i have found to use 100% alpaca for a sweater is to hold it with a strand of silk mohair. This adds strength and prevents the alpaca from growing or stretching out. My finished sweater is perfect and it hardly changed size at all during blocking or since. BTW, Andrea, I think your chosen colours today really suit you!

I love how so many of your patterns combine yarns in a way that allows to make a cohesive fabric even if the yarns have different properties!

I was so excited to see your woven scarf! I bought a rigid heddle loom last year and am just getting into weaving as well! So far I’ve only woven one scarf, but can’t wait to make another. I also love your mug! I enjoy collecting pottery too!

I love what you said about color. I am definitely a winter-jewel tones.I laughed when you said you don’t agree with your color analysis. I have loved chartreuse since high school. It dies not love me. Makes me look sick. But I have some yarn in this color and am determined to use it in stripes away from my face.

I love your scarf. I remember weaving a few things in school (in Germany) and really enjoying them. I think I might still have one with my table runners 🤔 I’m working on your Weekender light right now. I’m loving it. I’m almost done with the body. I think I have 2cm left on the ribbing.

I recommend the book “ Color me beautiful “. I’m an autumn and those colors sing to me. Plus I have a green problem. Several sweaters in shades of green.

When I attempted Wool and Honey I went with orange/yellow, a honey color and I hated it, so now a friend is the recipient of those skeins of yarn because I do not like the warm tones. I had got it in my head that I had to go with a honey colored yarn, I will knit it a color I love and know that I will wear.

100% alpaca yarn is perfect for crochet garments in my experience. The looseness of the finished fabric works for your benefit since crochet can sometimes be a bit stiff.

I had my colors done by Color Guru and am soooo glad I did. I LOVE my pallet and stick to it. It has transformed how a shop and choose yarns and fabrics and has made my color cohesive. Also there were a few surprises that I would have never had the courage to pick but since they are on my chart I have tried and absolutely love them - looking at you bright clear lemon yellow and chartreuse! That said I 100% agree with Andrea that it can be a great tool but also if you love and want to wear a color not on your chart then do it.

Your scarf is beautiful! I love that green coloured sweat shirt on you, it’s looking great on video. Love it. I kind of believe what you believe in terms of colour, I love all colour and want to use it all. So thinking of making a sweater with Florescent green, yellow and a pink but I’m going to small stripes around the middle, for a pop and the rest of the sweater will be grey. Just want something funky to use these colours.

another way to add fun colour to a sweater would be to do the ribbing in a contrast colour. That way you get the pop of colour without having to commit to a full sweater in that colour

I've had my colors done using a different method, not the seasonal one. It seperated colors by brilliance (is the color vibrant or not - hot pink or regular pink, royal blue or navy), darkness (light, medium, dark), shade (color purity- does it have any white, gray or other neutral mixed in, for instance to get colors like mauve or stormy blue) and temperature. They draped silk cloths of the same color family on me to compare how the different shades made my face look. I'm fairly satisfied with the outcome- it isn't perfect but is a good structure to work around. I'm suited for medium to dark not too intense colors which are not too pure and can wear cold colors as well as a combination of cold and warm. There was of course more detail to my personal pallet. Taking photos with different shades of one color and comparing them against each other in a collage is something everyone can do, and it is the easiest way to see what suits you best when worn close to your face.

Good morning Andrea! I have been knitting for a little over 2 years. Simple things . I have knitted a sweater or two. Still a bit scared when it comes to sweaters. I would like to learn more about the different fibers and what fibers are better when knitting socks, sweaters or any kind of garment. Is there a book or website that I can get or go to for this?

Hi, Andrea. I had my colors done, too, and--like you--I was really disappointed. I couldn't believe that those were the colors that looked best on me. And yet, I had my colors done because I wasn't sure what colors did look best. I showed the palette that had been selected for me to a couple of people and asked if they thought the colors flattered me. No one did! I mention all of this because I wrote to the person who had done my colors and told her all of this. She redid my colors; my "season" changed, and I did think it was better. But I also came away thinking that maybe I didn't fall squarely into one of the camps? I don't know. But, like you, I wanted to encourage anyone who gets their colors done and comes away thinking, "Whuh?" -- to ask for a do-over, or, like you, follow their heart.

I don’t believe those colors analys things. I have seen so many people not happy with that our preferences change with seasons, age, purpose of the garment

Omg! I had the same experience with having my colors done!!! They came back drab, sad and outdated looking. It was very disappointing.
