A friend's favorite substitute for a darning mushroom while darning socks is a lemon, they are a useful shape and leave socks smelling great and once your done, you can still cook with the lemon

Where to start? No pressure, but this might be my favorite episode to date. lol Sharing your wedding details with us was the sweetest treat ever! Loved it! I lead KALs at my LYS and had planned "A Month of Mowry, Andrea Mowry"(kinda like James Bond. lol) for January. That was in the works a few weeks ago and now you're taking some much needed time off. How perfect! We'll keep the train running while you heal. You are a treasure and I'm so glad you're prioritizing your health. Sending love and much appreciation.

This fills me up every week too, so I’m glad that’s the case for you as well. My mom (and most of my extended family) has Hashimotos, along with a plethora of other ailments. It’s definitely not easy, but I can tell you that rest and removing herself from stressors like work has been beneficial in the past for her, so I hope it does the same for you. Hope you start feeling rejuvenated very soon and then you can really enjoy that time off ❤

I just love all the good things you put out in the world, which is evidence how very hard you work. Thanks for being so kind to us! Take care.

If you put your arm out palm up, the length from your wrist to your elbow is the same length of your feet ( in general, i know not for everyone). So i use this as a way of measuring my socks. So i start my heels/toes a couple of inches short of this measurement.

Hey! I'm knitting the Gib II for my partner right now in navy so it was nice to see yours to motivate me to finish. The texture is indeed easy - I can take it to my knit group without worrying about making mistakes. Only change I made was knitting the ribbed collar later instead of starting there because I want it to stay tight and secure. Great pattern!

I'm glad you're taking the time to take care of yourself. It's so important. I struggle with that as well and have too often paid the price (often with being forbidden from knitting, crocheting, typing, or texting for 6+ months due to tendinitis) and that's no fun. Take care and enjoy your time with your family.

I agree with your suggestion of a Lendrum for a first wheel. I learned on a Lendrum original. Since then I have acquired a Matchless and a Lendrum Saxony. I have come to appreciate the simplicity and dependability of the original. The Matchless can spin anything but the Saxony is the queen of all. If you ever have the chance to spin on one you should try it. The large wheel makes for a much differnt spinning experience. The Lendrum Saxony is a dream to spin on.

It's great to see and listen to you! I'm glad you can still do the Friday videos but definitely look after yourself during this leave. I love hearing when there is snow--I do miss it (I am a Minnesota native) as I now live in Florida. I was so happy today that our temps dropped enough that I could wear my first ever Inclinations cowl without it being due to air conditioning but with the doors and windows open! I love it so much and am dreaming of another (and my youngest son wants one as well). It will be great for camping over Christmas, too. Your speaking of bakes has me realizing that I have not made any Christmas bakes yet!! Oh, for the person who asked about wedding knits, I have a friend who knit here husband (to be) wedding socks. So maybe just little somethings for the wedding couple--it doesn't have to be big and only you two need know about it (intimate and less stress?). Thanks for sharing your time!

I am knitting my first pair of socks using self striping yarn. Because I'm new at socks, I didn't really think of starting both socks at the same color. It doesn't bother me that the stripes are not the same. I can see they're of the same yarn and that is enough. That may make me weird but I'm ok with that too 🤭

I just finished the Gib and now looking at your cuffs, I wish I'd knit mine longer to fold over.... I notice that a lot of my sweater knits have a bump at my collar bones and in the back of my neck too. This happened with my very oversized Neve Fade and my fitted Throwover too. I'm constantly having to pull the sweater down to smooth the fabric under my neck. I'm wondering if this is due to my narrow/sloping shoulders, but big chest (& short neck)? In sewing, it's easy to do a full bust adjustment, sloping shoulder adjustment, or swayback adjustment. For a simple sweater design, I can figure out some adjustments, but are there any tips for more complicated sweater patterns?

Hello Andrea. Re question on darning socks. I’ve used both mushroom darning and the mini loom but what I have found to be far the best method is a knitted patch. This is shown on river city yarns podcast and I use it either for holes or very thin sections. I’m hoping I can put the link to the video here….xox kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYWbhp56l7R2o5Y
