I think he never really was, but Jive Records bet a lot on him, they even shared producers with Britney and did a lot of promotion to be able to establish him as an established artist but it didn't happen.

He wasn’t famous no. He had the feature on Britney’s album of course, but his album was released around the same time as hers and they were released on the same label, so when Britney’s career took off they tried to give him extra promo by linking him up with Britney in multiple instances but his career never took off.

And as far as Pleasure You goes, there are two options: either Britney ran into Don in like 2003 and then invited him to record the song with him as a sort of way for friends to get back together or Don came across this demo by Britney from 2003 and recorded his own vocals over it (similarly to what Heidi Montag did with Dramatic)

I remember in the baby one more time album in the booklet there was a little seperate piece of paper advertising his album saying it was coming soon. I heard he ended up on drugs some time later. no clue how hes doing now
