Ok so 1st of all you started your locs on my birthday! Congrats! Your hair looks amazing and so natural. Some people are very judgemental and that’s just how people are going to be about everything. As for your extensions that is your choice and everyone’s loc journey is totally different. I started mine in September of last year and decided not to do extensions but that was my choice. So all that to say do you girl and this is your loc journey! I am so interested to see how your locs are going to turn out.

I just did the same thing with mi own hair, reconnected mi original loks (that I saved and kept so so clean lol..all 69 of them), and I did it miself....it took mi one week and a half.. it was a meditative experience, but it made mi fall in love with mi crown all over again.. I was watching someone make them. It is definitely a game changer. I wish I had done more research before starting my locs. I knew about them, but did not consider them a viable option for me. I felt I needed to go through the process from beginning to end to using only my own hair. One thing that I have found out from this journey, that there are some of us that find it harder to go through the starter & baby locs stage from very short beginnings. I thought I was personally ready for this whole process in my head. Like I was when I first went natural in 1995. I found this to be a bit more of a shock to the system when I saw how drastically my hair was changing from what my hair used to look like. I wish I had gone the loc ext route and I would have been much happier. Seeing how beautiful your locs are; it makes me think that all the more. Your locs are beautiful. You look stunning in them. I will continue to follow your journey!

My locs are only about 6 inches long and another 6 inches would be ideal and making me feel better about my journey. Thanks for doing this. So basically, I’ve had my locs for 12 years. I love them dearly but I wish I had more. I have 70 locs and I’ve had to combine quite a few throughout the years and I don’t like the ‘gridding’ method/ placement of the individual locs. So I was thinking is it plausible to cut them off and reattach them with additional loc extensions with a much better placement? Or am I being insane? I want to be loced for life, like I just couldn’t imagine myself without them. However, what’s the point in having a set that I’m not happy with right? Ty for reading! Any advice would be much appreciated!!

I completely understand. Your questions aren’t crazy at all. You can actually cut your locs reattach them and add additional loc extension to achieve the amount of locs your looking for. People do it all the time. Just afraid to admit it.

I also have 4a/4b, the locs are 4c, do they feel different than your hair texture? Are they soft? Is the feeling of the locs noticeably different? (ex. rougher? less soft? less shiny?). My hair is naturally shiny. (im thinking of buying Macon style locs.
