amazing video I learn a lot, Question: I’m struggling with what to do regarding transportation and finances. My car broke down in January, and it's beyond repair. Since then, I’ve been working in a hybrid remote work and spending about $220 a month on Uber. The issue is, I'm unsure about making a big financial decision like buying a new or used car. I’ve been taking care of my parents since I was 17 (I'm now 31), and my brother doesn't help. Financially, things have been tight. I'm the only one in the family with a career (in game development), but here in Puerto Rico, $20/hour is becoming the new minimum wage. I feel stressed about the "phantom costs" of a new or even used car-if I buy one, I’ll have to deal with more than just the car payment; there’s gas, maintenance, and other expenses. Since January, I’ve managed to save $3,000, but my workplace isn't doing well, and my boss has even joked about closing the company. I’m really unsure about my next steps. Should I hold off on buying a car, continue using Uber, or what should I do? Im going Insane :/

I'd say the workplace not doing well financially is a bigger issue since that's your source of cashflow. I'd recommend looking for a new job asap. Regarding buying a new car or using uber, I'd model this out financially: 1. Used car: How much will it cost to buy a used card? How much will you spend on gas, maintenance, license/document fees per year? 2. Uber: How much will you spend per month and then year on Uber? Compare the costs between #1 & 2 and see what makes the most sense logically. Also, is there a 3rd option regarding public transportation? Not sure what it's like where you live in Puerto Rico but this might be another option that's viable and won't be as expensive.
