This is something I've struggled with forever. I took was afraid to look at my finances. I sincerely wish I learned financial skills early. I spent my twenties "enjoying life" and not being responsible. Then in my thirties I grew up luckily before my son was born. However, once I got a really good paying job, I reverted back to irresponsible spending.

He right just get rid of credit cards. Most are over 12% interest. And if you have any over 25% from big box stores your asking for trouble. Instead of buying new. Buy used in today’s economy get way better deals.

Knowing how you were before you started your business, do you think there was anything you could have done or saw to prevent you from going down this debt path? From what it sounds like, even if you showed your younger self this video, it sounds like you had this passion to quit the corporate life regardless of the debt situation.

Most definitely. I can film another video about what I would've done differently. Long story short, I would've set strict boundaries on myself such as how long I'd try business building for as well as a specific net worth / savings account figure that if I hit it...it'd be time to go back to a job. And yes, you're right...I had the passion to quit corporate even in my 20s and after all these years that apparently hasn't changed.

Step number one, never start a business without cash on hand, never never use credit cards to start or launch your business. Step number two, never start a business unless you know all your true startup costs. HAVE A BUSINESS PLAN Step number 3, first learn steps one and two. Always use CASH for your business. I did side hustle or a part time business using only CASH, accounts payable and receive able always in cash. If you live in California, it is a deed state, start a sude hustle buying and selling tax foreclosure properties. Good example turn $200 into $18,000 in just 14 months. This is what I did to generate income to finance by expensive hobbies. Some people turn 40k into 200k just in one sale.

Carry only one credit card. Don't spend more than you earn (seems obvious). Be careful of interest-free payment plans from PayPal and Amazon likes. You'll end up with 3 or 4 of these a month. This adds up. Set a saving goal every year. Everyone should know the must spend exact amount . Must ( rent/ mortgage, food, transportation ,electricity, internet (not cable)*,phone, hygiene.

"carry only one credit card". My friend you are missing out on so many perks in life. As long as you pay off the balance FULLY every month on each credit card, it's actually more of a detriment to your credit score if you only have one versus multiple. In fact, going from 2 cards to 4 bumped me up from an 820 credit score to 860. But again, all my cards have a zero balance by the end of the month to avoid any interest while still getting all the perks ever cc has to offer.
