Okay, I swear, the rest of the scene is very important and I love the realism of it (Mustafa no longer feeling connected to his father, Mahidevran facing that their only allies are each other) but I always, without fail, laugh over Hatice's line of, "Mahidevran is very nervous. I have never seen her like this before." Because, um, Hatice, they drag that poor woman through enough hysterics to rival your own.

Outside of Mehmed, he really was the strongest candidate of the time. The real tragedy in it for me that it all came down to being distanced from his father and one slipup that ultimately proved fatal. (I'd also grieve of Hürrem's sons all had to die, but, honestly, the whole situation these people found themselves in is painful and tragic when you examine it.)

Mustafa lost his father's respect because he disobeyed. Mahidevran is simply incapable of letting go of her vendetta against Hurrem. She has done so many things to Hurrem and now that the chickens came home to roost, it's somehow still Hurrem's fault. All these women simply want Suleysman' s attention and favor and will never get over that he chose his wife over them.

In my view Mustafa is right. Ibrahim did not betray Suleyman and did not rebel. Yes, he was arrogant and powerhungry, but overall he was loyal to Suleyman and a very capable statesman and soldier. I think the real motive for his execution was not his arrogance but the fear of Suleyman that Ibrahim could be a better stateman by supporting Mustafa as the future ruler. But Suleyman did not want a strong and independent successor. He wanted someone who obeyed blindly and could not be a threat to him. That is why Selim the drinker inherited the throne in the end.

If you call the wish of influence betrayal you have to put each lobbyist or consultant of a politician or monarch into prison (incl. Hurrem) or execute him.

He only demanded obedience and strict compliance from potential successors which is only reasonable because that was the relationship he had with his father. If you look at Suleiman's relationship with Sultan Selim his father. He strictly complied and never questioned his father and he ended up being a great Sultan.

Mustafa never seemed to appreciate that he was being given a chance to prove himself despite being sent to a different province. The more mistakes he made, despite the rules and Suleiman's warnings, the further away from the throne he was sent. Even in the end when hurrem worried Suleiman would die, she still called him, knowing he could sit the throne and have them all killed. She didn't have to do that.bit did it for her love, because he was calling out for Mustafa. Mahidevran and others filled Mustafa head with bad thoughts, blaming everything on hurrem. She always had Suleiman's best interests at heart and her children's protection in mind

How innocent they played...they forgot the greed of Ibrahim....sultan forgave him many times...but he didn't learn same attitude of mustafa...hurrem is successful whit if she was not ....the situation will be oposite mustafa.and her mother killed all of his sons and imagined hurram stading crying for all his sons in a tomb in front of the three graves...by the way .in reality muwtafa rebelled against his father like bayazid did later...
