Hey Marina, I'm also into baking my own bread and I either use my cast iron pot from Lidl (bought it a little over a year ago for around € 50 ) or a random cooking pot that I pop into the oven (must be made fully from metal incl. the lid) Both ways worked well and my bread is amazing..! 😊 So there's definitely no need to spend lots of money on a fancy dutch oven... Happy baking! ❤

That is a lovely potato haul well done. When I was a kid my dad grew all our potatoes. I recall we used to wrap each potato in newspaper to stop them going soft I think. Then they were kept outside in our coal bunker (no coal!). We did the same with apples,I don't remember them going soft until the warmer weather in late spring.

@Wild She Goes • Marina: Your introduction was beautiful. I love when the clouds reflect in the water. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous. I've been waiting to see how your potatoes would do. If some are rotting, you may have drainage issues. Seeing the rocks, drainage issues wouldn't surprise me. Since you already have the jack hammer attachment, you may want to just make holes in the rocks from the top. Once water gets in, the freeze-thaw cycle will help break down the rocks. Thanks for explaining the Blueland refills. I didn't realize the used a tablet. Nice. Beautiful summertime video. Thanks!

It's so nice to see you again Marina. OH Charlie is adorable. You got a full load of potatoes. I bet it will last till spring. you need to keep them in a dark dry place. if you have a corner cabinet that you don't use much and it dry and dark one that you can't use much because you can't reach back there :) and check them once a month and rotate them. You shouldn't give all your beer away. I don't know ?🤔does beer age like Wine? you can buy a dutch oven from walmart I believe the name is lodge they make lots of cast iron cook ware. You don't need to buy top of the line just to make sourdough. Thank you for sharing part of your life with us.

In regard to the cartridge case you found The four staight lines (hinting at a cross) can often be seen on rounds manufactured for a foreign buyer by a supplying maker from outside the national boundaries of the buyer. Each quadrant on the base usually contains letters or numbers. I tried enlarging to see what, if any, they were. But - sorry could not get any clear image. These may well enable positive identification of origin , and even the typr od weapon and thus probable army that used the round.
@WildSheGoes

Hi! I looked online but could not find the exact shell. On the top quadrant it's marked "I" bottom one "W" left "19" right "17" . Is there a database one can use to identify them?
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper 11 ай бұрын
@@WildSheGoes Hi there! The cartridge you found is an 8x50 Mannlicher, made in January (roman numeral I, for the first month of the year...December would be XII for example) 1917 (19-17) at Weiss Manfréd Acél- és Fémművek (W). Great find, I bet you'd be able to locate quite a few more with a metal detector...where there's one there will likely be dozens nearby. If you do find more, there's a good chance you'll be able to identify them from a forum post I found while searching for more info, simply google "8x50 Mannlicher headstamp WWI" and it should be the very first result that pops up from a forum called the International Ammunition Association. It appears this collector has found hundreds of them and has listed what each letter denotes as far as manufacturer. Happy hunting and have a great day :3

You are picking up your potatoes a wee bit earlier than we do in Scotland, but then again maybe it's the variety you use. I don't know if this will be of use to you but when my family has a load of potatoes that we don't want to shoot - we put a very green (Granny Smith variety) apple in with them...and it seems to work. Oh it's soo cool that you found that bullet from 1917. Even more than 100 years. When you started digging the stone I honestly though that it will be the stone which is some old roman mozaic or something, but the bullet is also nice. We here in the North of Sweden have hard time with potatoes. I have a very short growing season and my potatoes turned to be very little when i dug them last week. I left a few for next week, but the first frost is coming soon in September, so they don't have much time to get bigger than a cherry tomato sadly... I really wanted to have potatoes and I'm really happy for you! Amazing job on those 100kg-s (80kg 😉 )

Hi Marina, Your produce looks so good. I know how you feel about the deer. You love to see them in your garden but wish they would not eat your beetroot leaves ! I have the same here in Cumbria. Now for a sign of my nerdy past... Many years ago I helped to de-mine parts of north and east Africa and to removed all kinds of war debris from WW1 and WW2. I saw many bullet cases like the one you are holding and it is most likely called ( wait for it ) a 6.5 x52mm Parravicini-Carcarno rimless, bottle-necked rifle cartridge. I think you already know that it has been fired and is no danger. I bet that's was more than you wanted to know. Yes, it is definitely from WW1. Where you find one, you will find more as they were fired from a clip of 5. It's strange to see signs of conflict in such a peaceful location. It is often that way, I find. All good wishes from West Cumbria, Peter

Congratulations! You're doing a great job, but I'll leave you this tip: It's not recommended to expose the potatoes directly to the sun, as it will raise the level of solanine. This may be detectable by surface greening on exposed parts of the potato. Green is an indicator of solanine, which is toxic. Sprouts also contain it.
@WildSheGoes

Hi Sergio! Yes I'm aware, however this is what they've been doing around here for much longer than I've been alive so I'll give it a go. One day hopefully won't harm them!

@@WildSheGoes In Portugal this is also traditionally done, but the potatoes are laid out in the sun on the harvest field before being washed. The dust that covers them acts as a kind of anti-UV protector. Here, the potatoes sold in small bags in supermarkets are usually already washed, but those in the 20 kg net bags sold in grocery stores or agricultural warehouses remain unwashed, as if covered in very fine clay dust. This helps to prevent them from sprouting or rotting during wet, cool weather in autumn and winter.

Could be a 6.5 carcano case. If the length is 52mm and the inside of the neck is about 6.5mm that’s probably it. Probably left behind by the last home owner whose beet greens were eaten by the dinner on the hoof. My sourdough culture took quite awhile before it had enough maturity to rise well. If yours is still a little week, just give it more time in the preferment and rising. Keep feeding it and using it until it starts doing real work for you. Eating poorly risen bread for awhile will give you even more joy when things start really going right. Could you do us all a favor and really screw up a craft occasionally so that the rest of us can feel a little better about ourselves? That ipa will keep a good long time, if there’s enough hops, which are a bit of a preservative. Keep it cool and in the dark. Looks like those kits have some crystal or chocolate malt included in the mash. Unless you’re dry roasting the malt first.

I am curious... so who is "we"? I have not seen all of our videos from the beginning.. I love all that I have seen so far!!! You are a sweet soul who cares for nature and animals. Do you film yourself or is someone filming for you? I love you :)

Usually for "we" I mean me and the dogs 🐕 I film and edit everything myself cause I'm a control freak.
