This show is popular because it exploits mental illness with the mom's unnatural attachment. It was so sad watching Kelly call her son obsessively while he was on a normal date with Devon. Where are her friends, other family, or her husband? I'm convinced Matt is confused with his sexuality and no woman will ever be good enough for him. Hopefully, he figures it out before he damages more woman with his bitterness. They all seem like good people that need deep therapy and better coping strategies.

Kelly held back during this interview. Although they didn’t admit it, I do believe she’s easier on Devon because she knows her son is in love. Pushing Devon away would push Matt away from her. It would backfire. And this isn’t the same as with Kim. Matt had been with Kim for years and the newness of that relationship had already worn off. Matt and Devon are very much still in the honeymoon phase and now is the time to be in observation mode. Kelly can’t help expressing her opinions, and it shows a little here because that is her nature, but at this moment it’s very controlled.
