Awesome video. My sentiments mirror yours, pretty much exactly. My wishlist for this 2022? It'd be good to see them continue with the consistent stream of game releases - makes one feel confident that things behind the scenes are running smoothly. I'm eagerly awaiting Tempest Recharged, which they've hinted is coming. I've been down with that game ever since owning it for the Jaguar. Speaking of the Jag, I doubt they will release any of its titles on the VCS in 2022 but I hope they announce that they're in the works, along with Lynx games. I think it'd go a long way to generate interest and help system sales. The used Jag market is crazy ridiculous.
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much and for sure, I see them having the potential to release Jag and Lynx games to the store eventually. Similar to what Nintendo is doing and used to do with their Virtual Consol. I saw Tempest got it's trailer and should be coming out this year! Can't wait going to be sick, also fun fact Tempest was and is Nolan Bushnell's favorite video game ;-)

I agree the Atari VCS is a great console. Sure there are some issues with the VCS here and there, but overall based on the fact they have been out of the console business for over 25 years, they are doing pretty great. And I am very happy with my VCS for the past 14 months. I am looking forward to Yars' Revenge Recharged and Combat Recharged.
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou2 жыл бұрын
Totally! The VCS is doing great for their previous record with their last consoles. Yars' and Combat Recharged games would be awesome! Combat is so much fun and it would work great with how all the Recharged games have coop gameplay, maybe they would make it have a single player mode now ;-)
@The_Real_DCT2 жыл бұрын
They have not been out of the console business for 25 years. They aren't Atari Corp. They are infograms re-branded. The Atari started by Nolan Bushnell, bought by Time Warner and then split and bought by Jack Tremell died after the Jaguar. All is left is the IP and a few assets that's it.

I'm an Atari girl. I was bought the 2600 when it came out, I also had the 5200 [iirc], the ST, and the Jaguar. But I haven't bought the VCS or bought a 2600 etc. The reason is my gaming tastes have moved on. I'm a roleplayer and wargamer and there's nothing worth spending money on here. Even Asteroids isn't the black and white wire mesh arcade game that would scratch my retro itch. My mum and dad's pub used to have the table asteroids! Basically, I'd need to be able to play Star Wars Outlaws or Demeo or Warno or Cities Skylines II on it for me to buy one. I'd even buy the arcade versions of asteroids, defender, or Gauntlet. Basically, the VCS is either not powerful enough or stuck in the Nokia mobile phone game attitude. I mean, who is paying nearly $500 to play a 5200 game?? Convince me.
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou Жыл бұрын
The console is not for everybody, if it's not for you it just isn't. Not a problem at all if you were an Atari fan, you should try the new games they have been publishing to all platforms. So many good one, Recharged originals and some brand new ones. Also you don't have to have their console to enjoy Atari today and they even know that thankfully. Asteroids Recharged is fantastic and great fun, also as that was one of my favorites I would suggest you would also enjoy Gravitar Recharged, Yars Recharged and even Caverns of Mars Recharges. And if you do want that classic feel... you can get their Classic Joystick to play them through PC with it 👍🕹

Nice! @saturnman91292 жыл бұрын
They do need to seriously up their efforts at getting games onto the VCS. There are hundreds of indie games and developers out there, not to mention all the homebrew and ports to atari consoles etc.

I have a feeling there are more games in development, they just were omitted from this video, for some strange reason. Do a search for RetroNinja and BPM Boy and Chaos Chassis.

They may be adding games slower to not over saturate the store, like many other console stores are now a days ;-) Technically the Atari XP games are a few since they were considered prototypes till they added them to the Flashback consoles and are now officially release them to cartridges.

Wow, not what I expected. All I had ever heard was how the VCS was dead in the water when instead there's a ton of fun games on it being released. It looks like what Intellivision Amico was trying to do but done right. Very nice. Now the issue is understanding where it is available in Europe. It would be good to see a guide through the set up and purchasing games. Does anything come in the box ? Good Video.
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, yeah the VCS is doing pretty great and the failure around the Amico is helping them look even better for sure. Atari is getting some great new classically infused games out and they are really fun. I would suggest emailing them to figure out when they will be available in your area, they seem to be answering people fast and this allows them, to know the areas that want them still ;-) Purchasing games works just like on PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo thankfully, nice and easy. Depending on which version you buy, you can get just the console or a bigger box that has controllers and the console. For games they all come with the Atari Vault to download for free once you set up and get going ;-)
@Harlock2day2 жыл бұрын
@@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou thanks for that. Atari replied to me saying VCS is not available in Europe as yet but they will let me know when it does. 🙄 It's a shame but I hope they see sense and lower the price which it's killing its chance to have a bigger impact. It should never cost more than $179.99 in my view. It's a retro machine afterall.
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou2 жыл бұрын
@@Harlock2day Cool glad that helped a bit. I know the price is high for most people but we need to understand how expensive it is for a small company to do manufacture runs for items like these VCS consoles. It would help a lot for the price to be lower, maybe after they get some profit from the games they are developing it will come down. Right now, I imagine they need the money they are making from each VCS sale. If they rise up from all this, the higher price point will be cooler since all us fans will be the reason Atari was able to bounce back finally ;-)
@Harlock2day2 жыл бұрын
@@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou yeah I understand their struggle. I think it would help them to partner with a toy manufacturer with great reach like Mattel, for example, to be able to have more funding and have the channels open for greater distribution. Unfortunately if the price stays above $200 I think the VCS will continue to be a very niche product. I also own the Evercade, in both formats but its low price allowed it to become very popular. Many companies believe their product deserve the price it's at but sometimes is better to take a small loss for a brighter future. After seeing what you showed us I find it very encouraging as the console is getting better.
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou2 жыл бұрын
@@Harlock2day for sure, lowering the price even helped the ds and 3ds. It's fun watching their progress and play the games they are developing. I hope they can lower it soon to help others get in ;-) seems to be a major factor for most, the higher price.

Could you share the link to your video about adding USB storage to the Atari VCS? Does the VCS automatically format it?
@ILoveStuffandSoDoYou Жыл бұрын
I did not show this in a video, as it's super easy. You just pop in your usb stick. Turn on your VCS. Go to Settings, storage. It should come up and be selectable. Selecting it should prompt you to format it to use with the VCS. After that your good to go.
