Hell yeah, thanks for the good word BB. Always stoked to support an NJ event, and even more stoked to support a good cause while we are at it. Wish I was there, personally sort of sidelined right now but looking forward to a next season / late season this year return to shred.

Hey Niko, The type of riding you want to do after you get past the first steps is really key to getting you on a board that will help you learn that style of riding. If you want to get into sliding etc, a good first board to check out would be the Drop Freeride 41. The initiation of a slide is one of the hardest things for beginners, but thats what the DFR 41 does best. Alternatley the Arbiter 36 KT is a favorite when I teach people who want to slide down the line.

The Pintail 37 would be a great deck for you to learn on! It's a stable cruising deck that uses spring loaded truck to make carving easy! You can definitely learn the basics with this board. Once you progress, you can also go down some smaller hills, start doing some slides, or some minor freestyle tricks as well. -Lindsay

Hi Florian! Check out the Baffle 37 which is my new favorite downhill and freeriding deck. It has lots of rocker but is flush mounted, and you can stand directly over the trucks for more control. It has awesome flared out wheel wells which will keep you feeling locked so you can push out your slides. -Lindsay

Haha, this was in my town, lol, watched the whole thing, was so sick, this event is what got me and my friends into longboarding, we slide that hill all the time, its called church street, i think i was the first of my friends to bomb the whole thing though, haha

Hi Nathan! Check out the Pintail 46 for a nice cruising and carving board. It's low to the ground and easy to push, and it uses spring loaded truck which will allow you to carve easily. -Lindsay

Hey Yelia, Any time I hear tricks I think Apex series. The Apexes that have come out over the past year are absolutely some of the strongest decks I have ever seen vs any sort of freestyle / trick abuse. With the release of the PK nose guards they got stronger, but the main thing there is really the pop and performance the guards add. I think I would take a look at either an Apex 37 or an Apex 34. In either DiamondDrop or DoubleConcave for your height / what you want to ride.
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Startin em early. Love it. Really my top choice would be the Pintail 37. It's super low when loaded with Original trucks but most importantly small people CAN turn on an Original truck and still have return to center, where as you might need to remove the bushing from something else (not to mention it would be higher). Of course if she is going balls to the wall at 3'9 and charging straight from zero to sliding in one go, and one deck, I might go with a Freeride 38 haha
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a super perfect time to check out an Apex. If you don't care AT ALL about carving, or you don't care at all about freestyle, the Apex is not a great fit for you. That said if you like to carve and can appreciate the narrow neck for clearance, or you do enough flip tricks / tech freestyle stuff to thrash your noses / tails, the Apex is a really killer option. At 5'7 / 174 cm I would lean toward the Apex 37 for smaller hills or the Apex 40 for bigger. My fav is the DiamondDrop.

Been longboarding for 3 days now, and I am pretty confident bombing hills at high speed, and I can already slide without gloves (hands down and I'm buying some gloves soon). I'm loving it so much.
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
choosing a 37 or 40 really depends on your height and also the kind of riding you would like to do. Having a shorter wheel base may allow you to make some aggressive carves or freestyle easier, while a longer deck will keep you more stable for DH. The double concave and diamond drop feel very different as well. I say go with the Diamond if you want to ride a high speeds and slide, and the DC for 50% freestyle and 50% lower speed freeriding. -Lindsay
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Totally. I am with you on that, taller riders will be a lot happier on the Apex 40 in most situations, no doubt. I am 5'11 and I only use my 37 if I am without hills or on parking decks etc (more fun turning radius).

If it was me I think I would go with that Apex 37. Honestly you could ride either, the 40 inch Apex 40 would give you a wider wheelbase and a bigger stance (which you probably don't need) but would also give you a little more beef under your feet for higher speed stuff and sliding. But from your ride height the Apex 37 sounds like plenty of beef to me, particularly if you are focusing on freestyle etc. It's all about what you personally want to do. Sounds like a good fit.

Jeez, I only get to choose one? Sort of a tough call. I realize very few people are going to have the chance to get both but they are pretty different boards. I would say that the shorter wheelbases on the baffle make it a little bit more versatile (both for smaller riders and for smaller hills). The Arbiter KT does have those same (and shorter) wb options, but isnt quite as severe on the wheel well flairs. That said I think if I had to choose one for DH / Sliding I'd go Baffle.
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Hey Jacob, wasted gas sucks for sure. 5'10 x 155lbs leaves you with a whole ton of options. I would base your decision on the type of terrain you expect to be riding. If your commute is purely flat, something like the the Pintail 40 will make it a lot more fun (very maneuverable). That said if you have some more serious hills I would really look more toward the Drop Freeride 41, which also has the upside of being super low (easier to push). Either will roll fast with a good wheel.
@originalskateboards
@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Hey you may want to play around a little with you set ups.... Your drop through will lock you in best for sliding so I would definitely recommend starting there. You can mess around with the tightness vs. looseness of your trucks and adjust them to your personal liking! As for the wheels, the 75mm race formulas may be a little tough to break in and get sliding... so your best bet may be to switch the 65mm wheels to the drop through to learn to slide!! Have fun skating :) _Molly

@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Well it certainly isnt the board. The thing to remember is that any board can slide. Sure your board can help you, wheels can help, truck setup can help. But the most important thing is how you weight and unweight your feet. That finesse is the reason good guys can slide the hell out of anything from a two by four to surfboard with trucks strapped on it. It's also the reason that riders have so many individual opinions of what works "best". Details and Finesse, thats what its all about.

@originalskateboards 11 жыл бұрын
Hey that is an option for sure having both a board to cruise and chill and then a board to take on hills and slide or maybe do some tricks on flats.... However you can also check out an all around option for both cruising and freeride and freestyle like the Apex Double Concave... We have three size options the 34, and 40 inch so depending on how tall you are one of those three boards would be perfect! _Molly

so stupid to judge them for the editing, i didnt even really noticed it because the video had a really nice flow and overall fitted together really well in my opinion. I dont think slow motion has been used often before but if they want to let them try new ways to edit, just think about all the effort that went in this project.

Hey guys! I need some advice... I have 2 longboards as of right now, one is a pintail, the other a drop through. I'm going to start sliding, such as a coleman slide. I do not know what board to use to slide. I am very comfortable with both of my boards. My pintail is looser than my drop through. I have stock wheels on both of my boards. One my drop through I have 75mm race formula sector 9. On my pintail, I am not so sure, I know that it is 65mm. Feedback please!! Thanks :D

@ArthurDoesThings8960
@ArthurDoesThings8960 8 жыл бұрын
Top mount with low degree trucks and some de-wedged (or angled risers) for stability at "serious downhill" speeds. Drop-through longboards, from what I've researched, are used more for free riding/cruising. Although, I have seen folks use drop-through decks on downhill runs. All in all, it comes down to personal preference for sure!
