So good man. Check out the live versions if you can, because live Taylor blows studio Taylor out of the water. I'll leave a link for the rock version of "We are never getting back together" if you haven't seen it already. She's so versatile man. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJO5pJpnftBgfbM As you know it's one thing to sing, another to be able to play an instrument, but to do both. Man.

I'll leave a couple more really old live performances, "Should've said no", it's about a breakup where she has an epic drum battle with the "other" girl mid song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/roC5hqd9jN1lbdE She thought of the rain on stage scene when she was in 5th grade. 5TH GRADE!!! Second one is called "Haunted" kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJ7Cfmeamd93i6s

Taylor wrote a Christmas song in 2019, and dropped it as a single just before the holiday (istr, on her birthday). And, she made a video of them writing and recording it. Taylor was in high school when she wrote this. On the re-recording she just has to change a very small bit of the song. She owned the publishing rights because she wrote the songs, just not the masters.

Wow!! That was so good. How have I never seen the duality before?? That’s such an incredible reaction because I would never have thought that it had to do with Scott Borschetta!! Thank you! 🫶🏼🥳👏🏻

Taylor wrote the first verse alone, then collaborated with Liz Rose. They finished the song in 45 minutes. Her fantasy of love and living happily everafter were just fairytales that don't come true. This song won the Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal in 2010.

Yes, I was thinking it had a country sound. Forgot that she used to sing country music lol. Country is not my genre at all, but I loved this, obviously.

@@RapItUp41 Dude she was writing songs for Sony @ 14yo after school. That's what kicked her off in Country. She also wrote songs for Sugarland, Miley Cyrus, lots of artists. She wrote her debut "Tim McGraw" in 15mins, and sung it in 1 take. That's why ppl call her 1 take Tay 😅 The speed she can put stuff out at is ridiculous.

@@thebundybear5557 sounds like she stays in the studio endlessly or maybe not since she does it very quick lol. Insane that she can make music that easily. It makes me think of 2Pac and Eminem. Pac would stay in the studio for days and finish albums in one session. Thats why 28 years after his death there are still never heard songs and verses from him. I have heard that she ghost writes for artists and doesn't want credit or anything because she just wants for them to put out good music. Eminem does that as well with no attention. They truly love what they do and it shines through so much.

Taylor's Version means it was re - recorded after 2020; older songs are redone as close as possible to the original audio. Chris Rowe (he's been chief audio engineer? for the last 7 years or so for the tours) produced a lot of the music (but Taylor co - produced it years ago). And, the touring band did the instruments. Also on the rerecords will be previously unreleased songs, written in the same time frame, labeled "From the Vault". For those, she uses whatever mix/ instruments she feels like using now, often with Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, or whoever wrote it with her helping produce. Finally, soundtrack songs that weren't on the original albums at all are also added as Taylor's Version; like the songs on the original release, they are intended to sound just like the original movie score. Also, Violet is right : you should watch the music video for this. Taylor's videos from that era are like Hallmark films in the videography.

It is interesting in some ways to apply this after the fact to events a decade later . . . . . but she wrote the Fearless album between 2007 and 2008; she was between 17 to 18 yo and all her relationships at that point were HS kids, living at home. Princesses and fairytales ...... a lot of the songs on Fearless were written from a romantic view of what love is; Love Story is Romeo and Juliet with a different ending. It is like a Regency type romance novel; or Disney fairytales like Cinderella or Snow White. She really didn't have time for dating after the album came out in the fall; promotions, talk shows, and designing her stage, costumes, choreo, and oh yeah, band rehearsals --- well, not much time left over. She hadn't met Braun yet (his artists and award shows were pop music, not country), and her later issues with Borchetta probably would have blown over, except for who he sold his company to. fyi Braun was (among other things) a talent manager for several top artists: Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, and after 2014 or so, Kanye West, among others. He started as an event promoter and manager, then started managing more than the venues. Bieber had dated Selena Gomez, one of Taylor's friends; treated her badly. Braun was involved in a film Taylor worked on (but I can't remember if it was The Giver, or The Lorax) as a producer. Apparently, he harrassed her on set. His acceptance of West as one of his artists (when that infamous edited phone call was leaked) was another reason she didn't like Braun. The old saying, you're known by the company you keep. Borchetta put the company up for sale in 2012, and was offered $200 M. He thought it was too low an offer. So, it wasn't a surprise to anyone that he would sell his labels to someone; and standard recording artist contracts give the audio rights to the company. That is true for almost everyone in music. It wasn't having them sold, for Taylor, it was selling them to someone she violently dislikes. For a record label, the catalog of masters is their primary asset. Braun paid some $330 M for Big Machine Record Group (4 separate labels, buildings, studios, real estate, etc.), Taylor's music was valued at $140M of the total. Braun sold her masters after @ 6 months (primarily to get a quick profit) to Shamrock Holdings (Roy Disney's family) for $300M, almost getting his entire investment back. When Shamrock tried to deal with Taylor, who used her rights as songwriter to block commercial ads or movies using her music, it turned out their purchase had strings related to sales performance: Braun's company got a kickback if sales or streams were good. Braun's continued profiteering off her music killed any deal. Radio station groups like iHeartRadio also pledged to only play a Taylor's Version (new recording) if one existed; and all the albums she's released so far have done well for her, selling over a million copies when released. (like, all of them do that!) there, more than you have time to read. 😉

also I personally feel like the rerecords are better, especially the older albums. Her more mature voice makes them feel fuller.

A real eye opener of Taylor is Vigilante Shit from the Eras Tour. She does a chair dance. Very different from what she has done. It's dark, it's sensual. It's outstanding.

Break down, Taylor signed with Big Machine Records, Scott Borchetta when she was 15. Fast forward, Taylor had 6 albums and she wanted to buy them, Scott offered her for every new album she made she would get one old one back, which would tie her to Big Machine for a very long time. She told him no deal and when her contract was up she walked. Enter Scooter Braun, a person Taylor detested, Scott knew that, Scott sold Big Machine along with Taylor's 6 albums to Scooter Braun. Scooter bragged about owning Taylor Swift. So Taylor found a new label and started re-recording her music. Here is the order of her albums: Taylor Swift (debut album), Fearless, Speak Now (totally self-written), Red, 1989, Reputation. She has not re-recorded in order, she still has 2 more to re-record, her debut and Reputation. The rest of her discography is Lover, folklore, evermore, Midnights/3AM/Til Dawn, and the double album she just released in April, The Tortured Poets Department and The Anthology. She owns all those.

Hey Violet, gotta correct the bit about Braun posting he owned Taylor. so, for the sake of clarity --- don't hit me! Scooter didn't brag about "owning Taylor Swift." That particularly brilliantly stupid post was by Justin Bieber, and he posted it with a group photo of himself, Kanye and Scooter. Taylor knew in 2017 she was leaving; negotiations for her masters had gone nowhere since 2009, and she knew Borchetta was going to sell the company, so she jumped ship in 2018. The sale of Big Machine to Ithaca Holdings (Braun) was about a year after she left. Braun was a jerk, and Borchetta was several times a jerk; but Taylor gave her reasons for leaving in her interviews in fall 2019 (and expressed her utter dislike of Braun on social media). Thank god Kelly Clarkson suggested she do it over!

@@robertthompson7242 That is not what I heard, but why would JB do that, unless Scooter asked him to, I heard it was taken down shortly after.
@robertthompson72426 күн бұрын
@@Violet316 it was a stupid joke; Bieber didn't really grow up until the last couple years. He was just congratulating Braun -- his manager -- on buying Big Machine. And poking at Taylor a bit --- since she'd been vocal about her opinion of his treatment of Selena Gomez. This was also after Kanye's tour (in 2016?) self destructed and canceled, and Taylor's 2018 tour set new records; but before the full phone call was released. So, for a lot of folks, Taylor was still the villain. As for Braun _asking_ him to post it, the whole point of buying BMLG was as an investment. Pissing off the artist whose work was ~ 60% of total annual revenue (even after she left) isn't good business. Scooter isn't a genius, but fairly good at making money. Probably why he sold her masters to Shamrock; couldn't earn the expected money. They borrowed a crap ton of money to buy BM. I am guessing Scott got a lot of requests for syncing her music after the Rep tour; lot of money lost when she said no. 🙂

She started writing this song around 2006, before the blow-up with her old label and all that. It does fit into the narrative now, but it was not written about Scott or Scooter. Just good songwriting that can be read into in different ways. At the time of it's original release, most guessed it was about Joe Jonas. She had been dating him and he broke up with her over the phone.... so she was hurt and angry.

a note about the re-records, while Braun owns the master recordings, Taylor owns the actual original songs. . . because she wrote them. So she is able to re-record her songs.
