I walked away from a 15 month relationship. 3 years later we both realized nothing was out here and I left because I was 27 & wanted marriage & a baby. He already has 2 kids who he has full custody of with 2 different women who used him & are deadbeat mothers so he got with me and said “marriage is just a piece of baby” but was engaged to his 2nd bm and said he was trying something new. We both have grown in these 3 yrs but we are starting to debate again because my deal breakers remain the same except id sacrifice not having another child however he says he sees me in his future but doesn’t state as a WIFE!

You mentioned that he said he witnessed traumatic experiences surrounding marriages growing up. That is a legitimate issue most persons grow up with (especially those that lived in households that ended up in divorce). It does have a mental impact on people's perceptions, especially if it goes unresolved. As his gf at the time, did you try enouraging him to seek help to overcome those experiences in the form of counseling for example, instead of trying to make him see why you were the chosen one? I gather from this video that you may not have done that (I could be wrong) and based on your upbringing, you were just unable to relate to his perspective and couldn't not see why he was unable to see things from your narrative. Trying to "convince" him (or anyone for that matter) that you are the "different" one most likely will never work unless they are able to work through those issues first. It doesn't sound like he was a bad person (yes, I know you made no mention of that in this vid), it just sounded like he had unresolved issues to work through. Who knows, maybe deep down that's exactly what he wanted too.. but because he didn't take steps to properly address the trauma he witnessed, he made other's people's reality guide what he may or may not have thought was the 'right' narrative of never wanting to get married.

Thanks so much for your comment. I did encourage him to seek help to work through some issues as I knew of the specific circumstances that led to his lack of belief in marriage. I encouraged him more so to ensure his mental well being than me trying to convince as I truly loved him. And though I understand what you are saying I also believe that if it is a case where he needs to seek help to resolve those issues, it is best he does that outside of the context of being in a relationship with someone who desires marriage. Because once he knows of the desire for marriage there will always be some level of pressure on him even if she isn't verbally pressuring him. He didn't have an issue with commitment. He just didn't want marriage. Hence my advice to ladies, to not stay. If after a break up he decides to seek help and resolves those issues (on his own accord without any pressure) and he reapproaches with the desire to marry then by all means work it out. But I don't believe in staying in a relationship where a fundamental core belief is different.

This behaviour is not new. Allow a man to his devices and he will ride you to the fullest and discard you when he's done, and move on. Marriage made it very hard for men to move on, it also SEVERELY punishes them for leaving.You modern women think you're smarter or more sophisticated than your grandparents.

Successful men already have their own homes. Getting married doesn't stop your partner from cheating or leaving you. women initiate over 70 percent of the divorces according to the ASA. With over 50 percent of marriages ending in divorce, the risk is very real that you could end in financial ruin as a man especially if you are successful. Over 90 percent of alimony is awarded to women. Imagine your husband cheats on you and you have give him your house that you paid for and give her alimony while he has a new younger gf living in it? No fault divorce allows that to happen. Women break marriages more often and the data is very clear. Even lesbian relationships have higher divorce rates than heterosexual ones. How can we shame men for not wanting marriage when it is women on average who are breaking the majority of them? That makes no sense.
