i believe this is Ingrid Klimke who's not only a world class event rider but is a top level dressage rider. Her father, Dr. Reiner Klimke, was an Olympic dressage gold medalist notably on the horse, Ahlerich.

@@lindan2836 His stop was so balanced and athletic. Not just a normal refusal - dive onto the forehand the way jumpers do it. But fluid, level, on all fours. Very much a gymnastic dressage horse.

Three day eventing consists of dressage, cross country, and stadium jumping so dressage horses sometimes have to do a lot of jumping.

@@Poppaea-SabinaThis has nothing to do with eventing, though. This was a dressage show or competition, where the rider was asked to do a jump. The jump was pretty much for fun. These are Ingrid Klimke with dressage stallion Franziskus. He's one of the best dressage horses in the world, but has a double job in sports and breeding. Ingrid even owns two of his sons, I think they're very close to Grand Prix Special level now... Anyways, nothing eventing going on here. Also, dressage horses are the most athletic of them all, especially stallions become very muscular from the dressage training.

@user-jh4fd1rm4o considering this is NOT a show jumper, but a Dressage horse, I think she did a great job letting him see what he was refusing, and not getting mad at him. Probably the first time he's ever jumped in an arena. And though it took 3 times, he got his courage up and did it.

If he hadn’t been trained to jump before, a refusal isn’t an unusual response because you’re pointing them at a fence that they’ve never seen before and asking them to jump it while other people are standing tjere

That's Ingrid Klimke with Franziskus. She's one of the best riders I've ever seen. She's been to 5 olympics in eventing but Franziskus is her main dressage horse. They are/were part of the extended Olympic dressage team. Multi talented for sure.

I love Ingrid and Franziskus!!! This is one of my personal favourite clips of them too, because you can see exactly how she deals with "problems" in training. Patience, praise, and time and space to check it out so he can figure out it's not gonna eat him even though it looks weird ❤ Franziskus is also just so adorable, he has the cutest little head lol

Dressage horses are very powerful. They're built to do moves that take tremendous amounts of muscle and control. Jumpers would benefit a lot from doing groundwork and dressage with their horses.

I love how their knees don’t bend as much as a pro show jumper so they sprawl out on landing and it looks like how stroller (the only pony to compete in the Olympics) would jump because he had to jump so wide compared to himself

since the rider is in dressage tack, the stirrups are longer which is why the knee didn’t bend as much. Using shorter stirrups is better for the higher you are jumping aswell since it helps maintain the 2 point and to get weight down in your heels for going of the jump!
