I also fell in love with my sampler. It has been 10 years since I started using instruments, playing guitars, basses and synth keyboards. But the day I bought my sp404a everything changed, literally I went on to make my favorite instrument, and I started using it in everything, to record lines of music. to produce boom bap beat. even as a substitute for some bandmate who couldn't play. It is simple compared to other modern samplers, but this is the case where less is more. i love my sp404A: 3

Yes! 100%, I have a couple modern samplers and several vintage ones and the while my 404A may not be the most advanced one, it's one of the ones that I most often gravitate too. It's so quick, versatile and I love be the workflow! Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it! 🙏

Hello there, over the past few hours I have binge watched every last one of your videos and I’m must say I am very impressed. Judging the quality of these videos I was shocked to find out you only had a little over a hundred subscribers. You deserve many, many more. I’m happy to have discovered you so early. And thank you very much for this quality content. I really feel like I have learned something. I also have a question. I’m about to go into college and as such I am extremely broke. I already have a Po-33 and I would like to get one of the Sp’s. The 202 is definitely the cheapest, but I’ve heard the most praise over the 404 although it would take longer to save for. Also, what is the difference between the 404a and 404sx?
@_sugr.skull_4 жыл бұрын
Wow, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much I appreciate hearing that!...The 202 is great, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for your first SP, it doesn't have a sequencer or the ability to resample. There's literally no difference between the 404SX or A except the paint job and the fact that the 404A can work really well with the TR8 drum machine. So honestly just go with whatever ones the cheapest. The 303 is great and has amazing compression, but I'd still recommend starting with the 404SX/A, it's way faster, has lots more options, it can be battery powered and the SD cards are cheap and easy to find.

great videos really helpful, your music sounds dope too, is it on bandcamp ? I want to get myself one of these sp404s now.
@_sugr.skull_4 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, thank you so much! It isn't, but it is on Spotify, Apple Music and pretty much all other streaming services...oh you definitely should! They're great little machines!!

The lack of speed-type pitch is fatal for me. Well, not completely, as I have only a 303...but I have to use a custom effect on a Korg NTS-1 to pitch as I sample. But sampling in and then pitching is fundamental to my workflow in an ideal world.

The pitching is the major downfall

A vs XS? Thx
@_sugr.skull_3 жыл бұрын
I've never used the SX, but as far as I've heard they're exactly the same...except the A can be controlled easier with the TR-8 from Roland and it has a different paint job. I bought the A because I couldn't find any used SX's in my area at the time, but if you find an SX for a good price go for it!
@tom223333 жыл бұрын
@@_sugr.skull_ Do you think the A would hold more value or would it be a wash with the price difference? ~60$
@_sugr.skull_3 жыл бұрын
I don't think the A would hold anymore value...if you have a TR-8 then maybe grab the A so they can work together, but other then that they're basically the same.
