Apparently I’m the DLC “not a hero” it explains at the dinner scene Lucas says “NOT AGAIN!!” because the whole game made you think that Lucas wasn’t a mutant like the rest of the family, he had actually created a virus for himself and mastered the virus’ properties so he could regenerate. In my opinion I thought all the Resident Evil games were always good, I mean in RE 5 and 6 it kind of lost its touch. I loved co-op mode, because it gives a new feel to the game. ALTHOUGH RE7 was sooo good, the horror factor was amazing. Edit: I honestly enjoyed co-op mode a lot, I would like them to add it once more with another amazing horror factor.

The idea of different enemy types not fitting into the story doesn't actually even hold up. Set in a swamp? How 'bout some crocs? Evelyn creates horrifying creatures to kill you? How about she makes more elaborate creatures while she explores her abilities? Why not include others who are only just falling under her influence, like Mia?

Evelyn is a little kid. Not some Wesker masterminded child. She didn't care to learn her powers. She just wanted to be with someone who gave her safety and security. Also due to her age and acting out she didn't control her abilities. Since no one was around that could teach her discipline of any sort, she simply acted out with what became normal for her. It's a shit answer to lack of variety but so is not understanding the narrative aspect.

I understand your opinion about the game needing more variety when it comes to enemies but you have to understand that people would be complaining if the game was just too random like oh, there's a zombie here or oh, a giant snake but those enemies don't really fit into the story that Eveline was a bioweapon that can control fungus and creates Molden creatures and I like how they kept it simple and didn't make the game too random and didn't add anything that would seem out of place. I agree with you, I love this game! The new game engine is magnificent and the game is very scary. However, I didnt like the molded as enemies as much as old school zombies. They changed it up though and I liked that, it had a sort of "texas chainsaw massacre" vibe to it that I loved. I have a set of surround sound headphones that I use when I play, and they add sooooooo much to the experience. You can hear every tiny noise and it is VERY unsettling in the best kind of way. The Baker house made me think back to the mansion of the original game, which is one of my favorite settings in any game, ever. When the RE2 remake came out, needless to say I loved it as well (playing it now actually). To be honest, I would really like to see a new zombie Resident Evil in FIRST person using the same engine. It would be a dream come true for me lol. Geat video man! Sorry for the long comment :)

I think RE7's biggest folly is setting up the amazing Baker family up as the primary antagonists, then basically shoving them off to the side and forgetting about them until they show up as boss fights later. That two minute family dinner gives more personality to each of the antagonists than you will see again for the rest of the game. Unfortunately, despite being great characters, the game just doesn't do much with them. I was playing the game, just hoping that one of them would show up soon, because without them, RE7 is [i]boring[/i]. The best parts of RE7 were when Jack and Marguerite were hunting you through their own house-not when you're forced to go through a bunch of crawlspaces and fight the Molded in a bunch of rooms in the basement to find some keys or whatever. That's just busywork. The Molded themselves hardly felt like a significant threat, only serving as an annoyance and a way to spend all the ammo you've been finding and to give a reason to use the crafting system. They just pop up in front of you, you shoot them in the head five or however many times it takes to kill them, and move on. The Molded should have been replaced with more humanized enemies, and should have had more creative liberties taken with them to make them scarier. They should have taken a page from Alien Isolation and had the Molded follow you around, popping up randomly with advanced AI behaviours to make them the ultimate threat and really put you on your toes. Instead, they are cannon fodder and nobody who plays the game even particularly enjoys fighting them. Say what you want about Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6, but they at least had good enemy variety, even if the developers weren't intending for them to be very frightening anymore; but despite not being frightening, they were at least horrific. The Molded are anything but horrific in my opinion, and are just enemies that are quite literally bullet sponges with no personality. I'd say Resident Evil 4 balanced the horror and action perfectly; sure, you play as Leon Kennedy the Taekwando Blackbelt Zombie Slayer who can shove ten enemies back with a single swipe of his legs, but the game's atmosphere and tone, as well as the fact that you were alone for the majority of the game, made fighting the enemies still feel a bit scary. I actually would rather Resident Evil 8 be more like 4, than 7. But that's just my opinion.

I kind of enjoyed that the Bakers weren't overused. The game is short but always sweet. Jack and Marguerite didn't have much on screen time but when they were on screen I was always freaked out, never lost that fear factor. Really, really hope the next Resident evil isn't like 4 compared to 7. 7+ more enemy variety still leaves it no where near RE4.

I don't understand. A good chunk of RE4, you're with Ashley. In RE7, you're alone the vast majority of the game save for a few moments with Mia and Zoe. I also feel like RE7 does a much better job than RE4 of making you feel weak and vulnerable; Leon is pretty strong throughout the game and there's no equivalent of the "dinner scene" in RE4 that I can think of. Ethan on the other hand, is an "everyman" and is panicked or overwhelmed most of the time. I do agree that the Molded are less compelling antagonists than the Bakers.

But gameplay wise is totally different, as Neonwarrior said, moldeds are pretty meh and the only enemies, and after about 3 encounters with them you probably don't feel that weak and vulnerable anymore, while in RE4 there are plenty of enemies that makes you feel weak and vulnerable every time they show up(unless you have a fucking RPG-7).

I loved the dialogue during the boss fights. They’re just taunting you, while you run or hide. Marguerite berates you when you hide. Jack, in his final form, talks about how you turned his own blood against him, and mourns over marguerite. Lucas acts as a narrator while in the barn fight. It’s perfect.

I agree I love resident evil 7 but I feel that miss a huge opportunity to make alot of cool enemies for the game like a molded voodoo priestess or something or do to the fact Louisiana has alot of cemeteries especially family owned n maintenance cemeteries on there properties they could of use that to bring in zombies etc even the animals they really missed out on creativity when you put the game in Louisiana and not even use it to the full extent but I think re7 was just a test run or how u say to get your feet wet...for the next resident evil but hopefully if they ever do another resident evil game in Louisiana hopefully they do it fully instead of half assing it with the enemy opportunities and this is coming from a person from louisiana...

Unfortunately that also means that the main character (Ethan) has no personality, because he is just an avatar for the player. He is the least interesting hero in the entire RE series.
